The third largest two-wheeler company in India, which is TVS Motor Company, has initiated a recall for its popular iQube electric scooter. This recall, as per the reports, affects units manufactured between July 10, 2023, and September 9, 2023. Recently, an owner of a TVS iQube shared a video showing multiple scooters with frame damage, and in response to these concerns, the company has initiated this recall.
TVS iQube frame damage
A user on Instagram – Mohit Badaya shared a video on his profile. In this video, he highlighted that he bought his iQube electric scooter on August 24, 2023, from Om Sai Autowheels in Jaipur. On May 14, 2024, the chassis near the driver’s footrest cracked while he was driving. In his post, he mentioned that the following day, he took the scooter to the service center.
Following this, at the service center, the staff responded unprofessionally and offered to repair the scooter under warranty. He emphasized that the scooter was only nine months old. He then requested a replacement due to the manufacturing defect, but this request was denied. He added that many other iQube models had the same issue.
TVS’s Response and Recall
Soon after this video went viral on the internet, a number of netizens started questioning TVS. So, in response, TVS Motor announced a voluntary recall for iQube scooters produced between July 10, 2023, and September 9, 2023. According to the company, the recall aims to inspect the chassis bridge tube of the affected scooters.
At the moment, TVS has not disclosed the exact number of scooters affected. However, industry experts’ estimates suggest that the recall could involve around 30,000 to 45,000 units. As per the reports, TVS dealerships will be reaching out to affected owners individually to facilitate the recall process.
Inspection and Repair Process
It has been stated that each affected iQube scooter will undergo a thorough inspection. The aim of this inspection is to check for potential weaknesses or damage in the chassis bridge tube. The company has highlighted that this step is very important to maintain the scooter’s structural integrity.
In addition to the recall, TVS has assured customers that any necessary repairs or replacements identified during the inspection will be carried out at no cost.

The TVS iQube has played an extremely important role in helping the company reach the second spot in the best-selling EV two-wheelers list. Since its launch, the iQube has sold nearly 300,000 units. TVS, ever since its launch, has continuously updated the iQube. It has provided it with new features and extended its range to meet the evolving demands of buyers in the country.
Just a few weeks ago, TVS updated the iQube lineup. It has introduced a more affordable base variant and a range-topping ST variant. The standard iQube is offered with a 2.2kWh battery pack. Because of this, the price tag of this scooter has come down. It now starts at Rs 94,999, and it offers a range of 100 km.
