TVS Motor has officially emerged as the leader in the electric scooter race, outselling every rival for the third consecutive month in June 2025. With 25,274 iQube units sold last month, TVS posted a massive 80 percent year-on-year growth over June 2024 and secured a commanding 24 percent share of the electric two-wheeler market. This also marks the third straight month that TVS has held the number one spot in retail sales, after surpassing Bajaj and Ola in April and May.

TVS’s strong performance reflects more than just rising demand for electric mobility. The company has made well-timed moves to boost affordability and value. By cutting prices by up to 26,000 rupees and increasing battery capacity in key variants, TVS has made the iQube an even more compelling option for everyday riders.

Smart Pricing and Familiar Reliability

The iQube’s success comes from a mix of practical updates, consistent availability, and a wide-reaching dealership network. TVS has been able to reach both metro and smaller towns by using its existing retail infrastructure. This gives it a clear advantage over companies like Ola that rely mostly on online sales and doorstep delivery.

Another reason for the iQube’s rise is TVS’s focus on consistent quality and timely product upgrades. The scooter is known for its stable ride, simple design and useful tech features without overcomplicating the user experience. These factors appeal to both young professionals and older riders looking for dependable electric mobility.

CEO K N Radhakrishnan recently confirmed that more electric models are in the final stages of development. One of them is expected to be an entry-level electric scooter, likely called the Orbiter. This new model will sit below the iQube and target a broader audience looking for value-focused alternatives.

Bajaj Follows Close Behind

Bajaj Auto has had a good run in the first half of 2025, but it now finds itself behind TVS for three straight months. In June, Bajaj sold 23,004 units of the Chetak, a strong 154 percent rise over June 2024. However, that was not enough to regain the top spot.

The company recently introduced a new entry-level model called the Chetak 3001, priced at 99,990 rupees in Bengaluru. Bajaj has also expanded its retail network with over 300 Chetak experience centres and 4,000 touch-points across the country. These efforts have helped it stay in the fight, but the sudden surge from TVS has taken the spotlight away.

Ola Electric Struggles to Keep Up

Ola Electric, once the clear market leader, has now dropped to third place. The company sold 20,189 electric two-wheelers in June, a sharp 45 percent fall from the 38,859 units it sold in June 2024. Its market share now stands at 19 percent, compared to 46 percent a year ago.

The drop is partly due to product delays and a more cautious approach to launches. Ola recently decided to push back models like the S1 Z and Gig, opting instead for a staggered release plan. While it still enjoys a strong brand presence, issues related to delivery timelines and customer support continue to affect its momentum.

Ather Rides High on Rizta Success

Ather Energy reported 14,512 units in June, showing a 133 percent year-on-year jump. Its market share increased to 14 percent from 8 percent last year. The company’s big win has been the Rizta family scooter, which now makes up about 60 percent of its total sales.

Rizta recently crossed the one lakh sales mark since launch. Ather has also announced plans to roll out a Battery as a Service model for future products, allowing buyers to pay less upfront and subscribe for the battery separately. A new product platform, the EL series, will be revealed at Ather's Community Day event in August.

Smaller Players Try to Keep Pace

Vida, Hero MotoCorp’s electric brand, sold 7,664 units in June. The company has just launched the VX2, a more affordable scooter that also offers a battery subscription plan. This could make the product more appealing to budget-conscious buyers.

Greaves Electric Mobility sold 4,199 scooters in June, driven mainly by the Ampere Nexus model. With a growing lineup and steady demand in the budget segment, Greaves is carving out its own space in the market.

To sum it up, TVS Motor’s strategy is clearly working. By improving product value, expanding reach and focusing on customer experience, it has built trust in a growing but still cautious EV market. While Bajaj and Ather remain strong contenders and Ola works to bounce back, TVS has the momentum.

The upcoming entry-level Orbiter could give TVS another edge and help attract first-time EV buyers. If the company maintains its current pace of innovation and availability, it could stay ahead in a highly competitive segment that continues to evolve month after month.
