India's Most Powerful 125cc Scooter - VLF Mobster 135 - Bags 1,000 Bookings In Under 48 Hours

The VLF Mobster 135 has recorded 1,000 bookings within 48 hours of its launch, signalling strong early demand for a premium scooter positioned well above the commuter class. Priced at an introductory ₹1.30 lakh (ex-showroom), the Mobster 135 is pitched as the most powerful scooter in the 125cc space, aimed at buyers who want performance and style rather than just utility.
Created by Italian designer Alessandro Tartarini, the Mobster 135 carries streetfighter-inspired styling. Muscular body panels, twin projector headlamps and an aggressive stance give it a distinct look compared to conventional scooters. VLF has highlighted design as a differentiator, targeting younger riders who value sporty aesthetics and want alternatives to conservative commuter machines.
The scooter is powered by a liquid-cooled 125cc single-cylinder engine producing 12.1 bhp and 11.7 Nm of torque. With a claimed top speed of 105 kmph, it outperforms rivals in its class and offers enough performance for both city use and short highway runs.
Technology is another highlight. The Mobster 135 gets dual-channel switchable ABS and traction control, both firsts in this category. A 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth, keyless ignition, auto start-stop, LED lighting, illuminated switches and dual-purpose tyres add to the appeal. These features, usually found on bigger motorcycles, help justify the premium pricing.
VLF is assembling the scooter in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, using Completely Knocked Down kits. This helps maintain European design standards while keeping costs competitive. The ₹1.30 lakh launch price is significantly higher than regular 125cc scooters but still undercuts premium imports.
After the first 2,500 units, the price will rise to ₹1.38 lakh. With 1,500 units still left at the lower rate, the company is creating urgency for early buyers. To reassure customers about reliability, VLF is offering a 4-year/40,000 km warranty with one year of roadside assistance.
Distribution could be a limiting factor. VLF currently operates 12 dealerships in cities like Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru and Goa, with 13 more outlets planned. A small network may restrict reach despite strong initial demand. Competition is also tough.
Rivals include the Hero Xoom 160, TVS NTorq 150, Aprilia SR 175 and Yamaha Aerox 155, all of which come with proven track records and stronger service support. The Mobster 135 stands out with higher power and distinctive styling, but brand-new players must deliver on quality and service to gain long-term trust.
The timing of the launch may work in VLF’s favour. Rising disposable incomes, growing interest in performance scooters and a shift towards stylish, feature-rich two-wheelers provide an opening.
The first 1,000 bookings show there is appetite for such products. But the real test begins in November 2025 when deliveries start. Customer feedback on performance, build and ownership will determine if the Mobster 135 can turn early buzz into sustainable success.
