Motohaus has launched the second model in the Velocifero (VLF) scooter lineup- the Mobster. This also happens to be the first ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) scooter from the brand in India. The Mobster has an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 1.3 lakh, applicable to the first 2500 orders. You can now pre-book yours by paying a sum of Rs 999. Deliveries will start in November this year.

In the Indian market, it will face competition from the likes of the Aprilia SR 125 and the TVS NTorq. Its pricing has placed the Mobster in the same realm as bigger models like the Aerox 155 and Xoom 160. The smart packaging of this scooter could potentially give it an edge.

VLF Mobster: Design And Colours

The Mobster scooter has a very youthful air to it. It is targeted at young riders who prefer to roll in style and fast. It has a sporty design. You will also see some influence of maxi scooters in its overall styling. Key highlights of its design include all-LED lighting, a stepped seat design that is claimed to offer protection and comfort to the rider’s tailbone, split footrests, and sporty body panels.

It gets a twin-headlamp setup that sits on the front apron. A wind deflector is also offered. The unique design of the side panel brings more appeal to the table. A stylish, sleek LED tail lamp can be seen at the rear. The scooter also comes with standard brake protectors.

The Mobster rides on 12-inch alloy wheels and features tubeless tyres (120 section at the front and 130 section at the rear) as well. It also has a wide handlebar that will remind you of modern street bikes. The seat height is 797 mm. Four colours are available- Neon Venom, Ash Cicuit, Crimson Override, and Ghostlight- fancy names for fancy colour schemes.

The feature list on this scooter consists of a 5.0-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts, ride statistics, keyless go, and USB chargers. The company is also offering a dashcam as an optional accessory. The scooter also comes with an underseat storage that can accommodate a half-face helmet.

Specifications

Powering this scooter is a 125 single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 12.1 bhp at 8,250 rpm and 11.7 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The Mobster has thus become the smallest capacity scooter in India to offer liquid cooling. It has a top speed of 100 kph. This scooter also features the biggest fuel tank in its segment- it can accommodate 8 litres. The fuel efficiency is rated at 46 kpl.

Braking is handled by a 230mm front disc and a 220 mm disc at the rear. The scooter is also equipped with dual-channel switchable ABS and traction control. The front end gets a telescopic fork suspension while the rear comes with twin gas-charged shocks.

The kits are assembled at the company’s facility at Kohlapur. This factory currently has an installed capacity of 25,000 units per year.

As for the retailer and touchpoint network, the company now has 12 facilities. Motohaus plans to take this count to 25 by the end of the year. The proposed expansion will make life easier for Mobster owners. Motohaus offers a warranty of four years/ 40,000 km on the scooter, along with a one-year RSA.
