VLF India has updated its popular electric scooter, the Tennis 1500, with more range, smarter features and fresh paint options for 2025. The biggest surprise? The price stays unchanged at ₹1.29 lakh (ex-showroom). In a market where even minor changes usually push prices up, this move puts the spotlight on value.

The refreshed model now looks sharper, promises a bit more distance per charge, and offers a better mix of everyday convenience and safety. For city riders looking for something modern yet affordable, the upgraded Tennis 1500 might tick the right boxes.

Subtle Tweaks, Tangible Gains

One of the most visible changes is the introduction of two new colours: Slate Blue and Ebony Black. These join the existing Fire Fury Dark Red and Snowflake White, giving buyers more variety.

Beyond looks, the scooter’s claimed range has gone up by 20 km, taking it to 150 km per charge under ideal conditions. This should help reduce the need for mid-week charging for most daily riders. The battery pack has also been updated to a newer LMFP (Lithium Manganese Iron Phosphate) type with an aluminium casing. While the name sounds technical, the result is better heat handling and added safety.

There’s also a new mobile charging port on board, a simple but useful touch for commuters who rely on their phones throughout the day. With no change in pricing despite these upgrades, the package now offers better value than before.

Still Built for the City

The core structure of the Tennis 1500 remains familiar. It continues with its lightweight frame, 12-inch wheels, and city-friendly dimensions. The suspension setup includes telescopic front forks and a mono-shock rear, both tuned for daily city use. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends, supported by a combined braking system.

Three riding modes, Eco, Normal, and Sport, let the rider adjust power delivery depending on traffic and battery charge. A 5-inch colour TFT screen handles speed and battery info, while features like LED lights, side-stand cut-off, and keyless start are now part of the standard package. The under-seat storage space remains a practical 18 litres, enough for a helmet or backpack.

From the design front, the scooter holds on to its European styling cues, thanks to the Italian touch in its development. It doesn’t try to be flashy but stands out in a calm, balanced way.

Aiming at the Young and Urban

The Tennis 1500 continues to target younger buyers, particularly those living in towns and cities where range anxiety is less of a concern. Its styling and features clearly speak to a rider who wants more than just a no-frills EV. With many of its rivals leaning heavily on digital features or performance stats, the Tennis 1500 carves a different path - focusing on design, practical upgrades, and approachability.

While it competes in the same price range as scooters like the Ola S1 Air and TVS iQube, the Tennis 1500 positions itself as a more unique choice with its Italian design roots and simplified ownership experience. It may not have the largest service network yet, but for those who prefer something different from mainstream options, it offers a fresh alternative.

The key for VLF will be expansion. At present, the scooter is distributed by Motohaus India, with assembly based in Kolhapur. Their growing network of showrooms and service centres will need to pick up pace if they plan to challenge more established players in the segment.

Looking Ahead To The Festive Season

Interestingly, while most EV brands are focusing only on electric offerings, VLF plans to launch a petrol-powered scooter later this year. Called the Mobster, it is expected to go on sale during the festive season. This dual-approach shows the company is keeping an eye on different kinds of buyers, including those not yet ready to switch to electric.

This move could help VLF reach users in smaller towns or areas where EV charging is still patchy. It also reflects a broader attempt to appeal to both early EV adopters and traditional two-wheeler riders looking for something new.

The 2025 version of the VLF Tennis 1500 is not trying to reinvent the wheel. Instead, it focuses on practical improvements that matter in day-to-day riding. The bump in range, added safety, and extra features, all at the same price, show a clear intent to offer more without complicating things.

As competition in the electric scooter space continues to grow, updates like these can keep a product relevant and appealing. For the Tennis 1500, this update strengthens its case as a stylish, city-friendly EV that gets the basics right without pushing the budget.
