The 2025 season of the Indian Premier League, or IPL as we all know it, has come to an end. Royal Challengers Bengaluru were announced as the champions, and this is actually a moment that many RCB fans in the country have been waiting for over the last 18 years. Apart from RCB’s performance during this season, another surprise for viewers this year was the youngest IPL player, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s, performance. The young player was gifted a Mercedes-Benz and a Tata Curvv.ev for his performance in the tournament. However, as he is still a kid, he cannot legally drive these cars. The player has now revealed who he is giving these cars to.

The first car, a Mercedes-Benz, was gifted to him by the owner of the Rajasthan Royals cricket team, Ranjit Barthakur. Ranjit is an Indian businessman from Jorhat, Assam. He is the Executive Chairman of Royal Multisport Pvt. Ltd. He had gifted this car for Vaibhav’s performance against the Gujarat Titans on their home ground at Sawai Mansingh Stadium this season. He scored a century in just 35 balls and set a record for the second-fastest century in the IPL.

The Tata Curvv.ev was actually gifted to him by Tata Motors after he was announced as the ‘Super Striker of the Season’. In both cases, the cricketer was given cars, and the irony here is that he is just 14 years old and cannot legally drive them. The same thing was pointed out by veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle during the award ceremony as a joke. He said, “He can’t even drive the car he just received!”

It looks like Vaibhav already has a plan in mind. He has already handed over the keys to the Tata Curvv.ev to his mother. While handing over the key, Vaibhav said, “This is the first gift I am giving to my mom.” In many videos shared by the team, it was clear that his mother played a crucial role in his career. He said, “She sleeps at 11 pm and wakes up at 2 am to prepare for my practice sessions.”

The RTOs have confirmed that, in order to own a vehicle under your name, the owner doesn’t have to be 18 years old. He or she should have all the necessary documents like a PAN card and Aadhaar card to be the legal owner. However, he can only drive the car once he obtains a driving license after he turns 18. It should be noted that underage driving is illegal in India.

The Curvv.ev is expected to be registered under the name of Vaibhav’s mother, as he had publicly gifted the car to her. The Mercedes-Benz, on the other hand, is likely to be registered under Vaibhav’s name. He might appoint a driver, or probably his father might be the one driving the expensive car until his son turns 18.

This season was full of surprises and became a turning point for this young cricketer. Hopefully, we will get to see a better version of the player in the next season.
