The video of the 15-year-old Toyota Fortuner getting started for the first time in months has been shared on YouTube by The Beamer Guy on their channel. It starts off with the host mentioning that he was told about this particular abandoned Fortuner by one of his friends. He was told that this vehicle was being driven on the road a little while ago when it suddenly turned off and did not start.

Following this, he added that this particular Fortuner is a 2010 model, and it is a 4X4 manual variant. He then removes the dilapidated cover which was placed on it. The vlogger stated that recently it had rained in the area, so the vehicle is not completely covered in a thick layer of dust. However, he added that it is still dirty.

After this, he started checking out the exterior of this particular SUV. He stated that the overall condition of the vehicle from a distance seems okay. But upon closer inspection, it can be noted that there is a lot of rust inside the wheel arches. It also gets a rusted side skirt as well. Apart from these, the headlights and the taillights have also fogged up.

Moving on, the vlogger also checked out the interior and mentioned that as the seals of the doors are intact, it has not been filled with dirt on the inside. There is a lot of wear and tear, and some components are broken, but that is expected from a 15-year-old vehicle.

Did it start?

Following the complete exterior and interior inspection of this Fortuner, the vlogger opened the engine bay. He mentioned that the belt, power steering pump, water pump, and other essential components are present. He then checked the dipstick of the vehicle and mentioned that it still has oil. However, after closer inspection, he found that the engine oil was mixed with the diesel.

Moving on, he then replaced the battery of this Fortuner with a battery which he brought with him. Unfortunately, this new battery did not power the vehicle. So, he went and checked and noted the ground wire was not bolted properly. After this, he turned on the ignition, and the vehicle's odometer showed that it had over 4.5 lakh km on it.

He then tried starting the vehicle, but it was not starting up. The vlogger then noted that the electrical relay was not properly tightened. So, after taking care of it, he started the vehicle, and it turned on after a few cranks. The vlogger then stated that the power steering pump’s pipe is not fully connected, so it's leaking oil and hence the power steering is not working.

However, despite this, he drove the vehicle from that spot to his shop, which was around 5–6 km. He added that he will now be further diagnosing the vehicle. He added that there could be major engine issues which could require the removal of the head. Apart from this, he added that more things will be discovered later on.
