When we hear about a 19-year-old girl buying a new car, we would mostly expect her to choose a handsome city car or a sleek (or sporty) sedan. Ananya Ramdey, a 19-year-old girl from Assam’s Guwahati, has now taken the internet by surprise by choosing a Mahindra Bolero as her new set of wheels. She has shared a few pictures and videos of the SUV on her Instagram handle.

Ananya has bought the 2024 Bolero. Her post on Instagram shows Ananya standing with her newly bought White Bolero. Towards the end of the carousel, we can also see the SUV parked near a temple. She might have taken it there for Vahan Puja. A White Mahindra Scorpio Classic can also be seen near it, in the video.

Interestingly, this purchase comes soon after the carmaker launched the facelifted Bolero and NEO here. The facelifts come with notable changes (improvements) over the SUV in these pictures. As for the one bought by Ananya, the body graphics and grille design confirm it to be a 2024 model.

The Bolero, as you know, is a rugged, old-school SUV that lacks most comfort features of modern-day compact or sub-compact SUVs. It even comes with a rugged leaf-spring suspension at the rear! The cabin feels basic as well. Thus, it feels indeed special to see young girls opting for this vehicle.

New Mahindra Bolero: A Closer Look At It

Mahindra launched the new Bolero in India on October 6th. It now starts at Rs 7.99 lakh, ex-showroom, and comes in four variants- B4, B6, B6 (O), and B8. The newly-added B8 variant has an ex-showroom price of Rs 9.69 lakh.

The facelift retains the original Bolero’s rugged, utilitarian design. It, however, brings to the table a bunch of tasteful revisions. The colour palette has had a complete overhaul. It now comes in four colours- Stealth Black, Rockey Beige, DSAT Silver, and Diamond White. The 2024 model was only available in two colour options.

The facelifted Bolero gets a set of stylish 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The grille design has also been revised. It now gets a more imposing design and comes with bold touches of Black. The front bumper is also new and comes with fog lamps.

You will see more notable changes inside. The range-topping variant comes with comfortable leatherette seats, a 7-inch Android-based touchscreen infotainment system, a USB C charging port, steering-mounted controls, key with remote, a central locking system, a digital instrument cluster with driver information system, AC, and more. The cabin now features more storage spaces and cup holders and is thus more practical.

Nothing has changed on the mechanical front. The new SUV continued to be powered by the same 1.5L mHawk75 diesel engine as before. It makes 75hp and 210 Nm of torque. The transmission on offer is a five-speed manual unit.

The new Bolero, too is based on a ladder-frame chassis. It, however, comes with an improved suspension architecture. Mahindra calls this the ‘Rideflo’ technology and claims that it has improved the ride quality and handling of the new Bolero significantly, even while keeping its rugged nature safe.

The Bolero Is Very Popular!

Even in its newest avatar, the Bolero continues to be a seven-seater SUV. It enjoys immense acceptance in many parts of India, especially in rural suburban markets. People love the Bolero for its India-friendly proportions, capable powertrains, easy serviceability, reliability, and rugged underpinnings. At present, the Bolero family has two models in it- the Bolero Classic and the Neo.
