Nearly 40 Year-Old Premier Padmini Restored To Perfection [Video]

The Fiat Premier Padmini is, hands down, one of the most iconic cars in the history of Indian automobiles. This sedan was one of the most commonly seen cars on Indian roads back in the 70s, 80s, and a few more years after that. Unfortunately, today these cars have become very rare as most of them have been scrapped. However, there are a few people who still own this legendary sedan, and recently a video of a complete restoration of this particular Premier Padmini has been shared online.
This video of the meticulous restoration of a Fiat Premier Padmini has been shared on YouTube by Autorounders on their channel. The owner of Autorounders starts the video by mentioning that this particular vehicle has been sent to them by one of their very important clients. He highlights that they generally do not work on such old cars that are in extremely dilapidated condition.
However, this time they have made an exception as this client is very near and dear to them. Following this, the owner of the shop starts giving a short walkaround of this vehicle and talks about the condition of the car in a detailed manner. He states that the car is in a very poor state and most of its joints and body panels are rusted. Adding to this, he states that they will have to do a ton of fabrication work to restore it.
The owner of the shop also explains that even after fixing all the rust on the car, they will not be able to provide a warranty on it, as rust can generally reappear. He, however, adds that they will be using the best quality paint material from Germany and will also make sure that each and every process is done meticulously so that the car remains beautiful for the longest time.
Following the introduction, this particular Premier Padmini then goes into the shop for the work to get started. It can be noted that the first thing the technicians do is disassemble the vehicle and remove all the parts. After this, it can be seen that most of the panels of the vehicle were rusted. The shop manager then explains that they will be cutting off the old rusted panels and replacing them with new ones.
Also, for parts and panels they cannot find, they will be making them from scratch using sheet metal. The manager highlights that one of the technicians working on this car has a lot of experience in creating such custom parts for the Premier Padmini. He adds that the entire floorboard of this vehicle is rusted, and they will be replacing it.
The video then shows all of the technicians working on this vehicle and removing all the twisted and broken parts. They can also be noted welding and molding new metal parts and then finishing them off to give the vehicle a complete look. After the fabrication work was completed, the vehicle was then taken to the paint booth.
Prior to the painting process, all of the body panels were covered in glazing putty and were sanded until they became smooth. After this, the vehicle was sent for paint. It can be noted that the owner had opted for the original white shade. Following this, the inner panels and other parts were also painted black.
Finally, after completing the restoration, the owner of the shop gives a detailed walkaround look. He mentions that they have added a lot of missing parts and have created a lot of parts as well. As for the result, it has come out great. We can note that it now looks absolutely mind-blowing.
