People in India love the Maruti Suzuki Swift, and it has been the case since its launch. For a very long time, it was “The Best Selling” vehicle in India. Even today, people who bought it back in 2005 and later have the first-generation model running. Now, most people either get their old cars repainted or do cosmetic upgrades to make them look fresh over the years. However, recently, we came across India's first Maruti Suzuki Swift from 2008, which has been converted into a 2020 model.

2008 Swift to 2020 Swift

This video showing the conversion process of a 2008 Swift into the 2020 model has been shared on Instagram by AutoKing Car Care on their page. It starts off with a picture of the original 2008 Swift finished in silver color. It can be noted that the vehicle was not damaged a lot and was in decent condition. However, in the next image, we can see it with a completely dismantled front fascia.

The front bumper, fenders, bonnet, and headlights along with the grille of this hatchback were removed. Following this, the next image shows this particular vehicle fitted with a new red-colored bonnet from the 2020 model. Also, the front fenders were changed with new ones. Most likely, these were test-fitted to check for the fitment.

After this, the video then shows a man working on the custom fabrication of the rear portion to fit the 2020 model’s taillights. It can be seen that the tailgate of this vehicle is the original 2008 model tailgate. In the next clips, the vehicle is seen getting into the bodywork stage.

During this stage, the vehicle is first checked for dents and scratches. They are then rectified using body filler and the sanding process. The vehicle then gets a coat of primer, and it is again wet sanded to ensure that the paint finish is perfect and there are no imperfections. Finally, the vehicle goes in for the paint process.

The clip then shows the painter mixing and spraying down red color paint, which is very popular on the Swift. It can be noted that all the door jams, inside portions of the doors, and other hidden panels are painted in red to make it look original. Finally, the vehicle gets a clear coat to bring out the shine.

Final product

The shop which has executed this entire project has shared the images of the final car. It can be noted that new headlights have been added along with a unique grille with vertical chrome slats, after which the images show that a set of new fog lamps has been added as well.

Moving to the side, the vehicle gets a set of multispoke alloy wheels and a blacked-out roof and body pillars. Meanwhile, in the rear, a roof spoiler has been added along with 2020 Swift taillights. Eagle-eyed viewers will be immediately able to note the original tailgate. However, a lot of people might not notice it.

The exact cost and details on how much time this process takes have not been mentioned. Overall, the vehicle looks decent, and the quality of work is also nice.
