92 Year-Old Armada Owner Checks Out Grandson’s Mahindra Scorpio-N [Video]

People and their connections with cars can sometimes be very heartwarming. It is sweeter to see a loyal, warm bond with a manufacturer span across generations. We got to see one such incident recently when a 92-year-old Grandpa who used to own a Mahindra Armada in his young days checked out the all-new Scorpio-N, and finally ‘approved’ of it!
It feels nice to see the grandchild and the 92-year-old hold a shared love for Mahindra. The duo has experienced two entirely different eras of the Indian carmaker. The products they own (ed)- the Armada and Scorpio-N are both iconic in their own respects. The carmaker has had an impressive progress curve in engineering and quality, between the Armada and Scorpio-N.
The Mahindra Armada was quite popular during its time. It had the swag and was very versatile. It could handle both roads and terrains and haul a large number of people around. The Armada was thus used to carry passengers, luggage/cargo and for long-distance travels. You could see them both in the personal vehicle and fleet segments. The vehicle sure had its shortcomings but was quite competitive for its time and segment. In 2024, very few well-kept examples can be seen, it already enjoys the status of an Indian icon.
The Scorpio-N, on the other hand, is a well-engineered product that’s doing equally well in sales. It stands unique for skilfully resurrecting the Scorpio nameplate and for being a product that strikes a balance between utility, comfort, and performance. It marks a significant improvement over the previous Scorpio on most grounds.
This took place in West Bengal. The grandson bought a Scorpio-N in what appears to be a shade of Black ( Unsure if it is the Napoli Black or Midnight Black, or if it is the Deep Forest as the images shared were captured in low light conditions that limit clarity). The 92-year-old grandpa wanted to check out the new car.
Due to his age, he found it difficult to walk and was being assisted by people in doing so. He checked out the SUV and as the post says ‘approved of it’. The family members had brought the SUV to him to get his blessings. He gladly did it as well. Pictures and specifics of this were later shared on Facebook. The Scorpio-N owner reportedly said that his grandfather’s approval was the biggest validation for his new SUV. In pictures, the entire family seems to be happy about their new purchase.
The Scorpio-N packs comfort, handling, features and tech into the iconic Scorpio shell, without losing the OG DNA. The SUV is pitched as a D-segment player, and comes with a roomy, technology-rich cabin. Key features include a large touchscreen infotainment display, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, AdrenoX Connect with built-in Alexa, 12-speaker Sony 3D surround sound system, 360 camera, powered driver seat, auto-dimming IRVM.
The safety suite consists of four ventilated disc brakes, ABS, EBD, six airbags, ISOFIX mounts, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Hold, Hill Descent Control and Driver Drowsiness Detection.
Under its hood, the Scorpio-N gets the familiar engine options from the modern-day Mahindras- 2.2L mHawk diesel and 2.0L mStallion turbocharged petrol engine. The diesel makes 132 PS / 300 Nm or 175 PS / 400 Nm, depending on the variant you choose, while the petrol has an output of 200 PS and 380 Nm. Both a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox are available.
The higher variants of the Scorpio-N also come with 4XPLOR off-road hardware. Another distinct feature is that this SUV also uses Frequency Selective Damping for better rides on the tarmac. The price ranges between Rs 13.85 lakh and Rs 24.54 lakh, ex-showroom.
