Bought Golf GTI On Loan, Not By Politician Dad's Money: Suresh Gopi's Son Madhav Suresh
The recently-launched Volkswagen Golf GTI has found a multitude of buyers in Kerala. As many as 50 from the first batch of 150 cars are headed for the South Indian state. Among the early adopters of Golf GTI in Kerala, is Madhav Suresh, son of actor-turned-politician and Union Minister Suresh Gopi. The purchase soon made headlines, as the youngster is currently preparing for his big-screen debut, as the protagonist. Madhav has now revealed that he took a loan to buy the car.
In an interview with Milestone Makers, Madhav confessed that the strongest question he came across as soon as the car-shopping news was out, was if it was his dad who bought it for him or if it was the son himself who paid for it. The actor then said that he took a loan to buy the car, and will be working to pay it back- like every other ambitious young man.
For the uninitiated, the Golf GTI has a steep pricing in India, as it is sold as a fully imported (CBU) model. It has an ex-showroom price of Rs 52.99 lakh, with the on-road price hovering above 67 lakh rupees in Kerala. It isn't easy for someone to spend such sums on a car unless he/she is highly successful in life.
He acknowledged that there are privileges of being Suresh Gopi's son. He would, however, want to stand on his own two feet and keep the family's wealth safe.
Madhav further said that he has the security of his father's wealth. This kind of financial backing is not something everyone is blessed with. The family's wealth, he says, isn't for him to splurge on luxuries. It is for his parents to retire and get their daughter married. Madhav wishes to work and create an empire of his own.
He further explained that he wouldn't mind taking support from the wealth that his dad has created, if his entire career fails and if he ends up financially broke.
On the career front, Madhav is awaiting the release of the first movie with himself as the protagonist- Janaki vs State Of Kerala (aka JSK), in which Suresh Gopi, his dad and the serving Union Minister will play an advocate. The movie is looked forward to by many in Kerala, as Suresh Gopi usually excels in such roles.
Madhav was previously seen in one of the key roles in the 2024 movie 'Kummattikkali' which, however, did not turn out well for him. Both the movie and his role received severe criticism from viewers. JSK thus stands super-critical for him. It could turn out to be decisive in his career as an actor.
The actor also said that he has been facing a lot of hate on social media because his dad is a BJP minister, and also added that he doesn't hold any grudge against haters. In one of his comments on Instagram, Madhav even expressed his confidence in turning his now-haters into future fans!
Talking of the Golf GTI, Madhav has bought it in the Grenadilla Black Metallic shade. It is the most attractive of the four available shades. Powering the facelifted eighth generation Golf GTI is Volkswagen's 2.0L TSI turbocharged petrol engine which produces 265hp and 370 Nm. It comes mated to a 7-speed DSG. This performance hatchback can sprint to 100 kph from a standstill in just 5.9 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kph. It features a front-wheel drive (FWD) layout.
Madhav Suresh has indeed made a statement by adding the Golf GTI to his garage at a crucial point in his career. The vehicle has already reached the garages of many big names in the Malayalam film industry, including Mammootty and Fahadh Faasil.
