Dude Actor Gifts Director His First Car - A Brand New Renault Kwid [Video]

We often come across warm bonds from within the movie and entertainment industries. In the past, we have seen many incidents of actors gifting directors cars and SUVs. The latest such case is from the South. Actor Pradeep Ranganathan gifted director Ramesh Narayanan a Renault Kwid, his first car! Narayanan later shared a video of this warm gesture on his Instagram handle.
The clip opens by showing the actor hugging the director. Narayanan is seen excited about the new car and his friend’s warm gesture. He was the co-director of the 2022 movie ‘Love Today’ and ‘Dragon’ that released in February this year. We have also seen him on-screen in movies like Comali, Dude, OMK, Dragon, and Love Today.
Pradeep starts by appreciating Ramesh’s hard work and role in the movies’ success. He then says that the car is a token of appreciation for his loyalty. The two then celebrate the occasion by cutting a cake. Pradeep then says that ‘this is just the beginning’, underlining that the association with Ramesh is here to stay.
The car here is a Renault Kwid. This budget hatchback is available in a total of 10 colour options- five monotones and five dual-tones. The gifted car is finished in monotone Zanskar Blue. The Kwid now has its ex-showroom prices in the range of Rs 4.27 lakh- 5.47 lakh. The exact variant in this case remains unclear.
The Kwid is powered by a 999cc, three-cylinder petrol engine, capable of producing 68hp and 93Nm. A five-speed manual and an AMT automatic transmission are available. In the Indian market, the Kwid competes mainly with the Maruti Alto and the S-Presso.
Higher variants of the Kwid come with features like Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), reverse parking camera, steering-mounted audio controls, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and more.
One of the most distinctive features of the Kwid is its upright, SUV-like design. It looks almost like a mini SUV and even has a ground clearance of 184 mm. The outgoing model looks good and comes with a unique lighting signature and stylish wheels. The boot capacity here is 279 litres.
In September, Renault introduced a celebratory edition on the Kwid. Called the ‘10th Anniversary Limited Edition’, it was based on the Techno trim and had a price of Rs. 5.14 lakh for the manual and Rs. 5.63 lakh for the AMT variants, both ex-showroom. Just 500 examples will be available.
Two new dual-tone colour options were introduced on the special edition- Fiery Red with Black roof and Shadow Grey with Black roof. The wheels come with a Glossy Black finish. Other cosmetic changes include anniversary decals on the doors and C-pillar, and tasteful touches of Yellow on the grille.
Even inside, you’ll see notable changes. The anniversary edition gets unique seat upholstery and Yellow accents can also be found on the steering wheel and door trims. The car also comes with illuminated scuff plates and puddle lamps.
Renault has also updated the entire Kwid lineup with more safety features. The higher variants now get six airbags, three-point seat belts for all passengers, and more safety features.
The variant names have also been revamped- RXL is now Evolution, RXT is now Techno, and there’s the Climber as well. This is, in fact, the carmaker’s global naming pattern and will be used on future models, including the third-generation Duster, set to launch in January next year.
