Rohit Roy is an Indian actor who is known for his work in both film and television productions. He is particularly known for his time in television series such as Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand and Swabhimaan. Rohit owns a tasteful garage that includes interesting four-wheeler and two-wheeler models. Now, he has announced through his Instagram handle that his Indian FTR 1200 motorcycle is up for sale.

The Instagram post shows a few pictures of the motorcycle including a detailed view of its number plate that reads 'MH 04 KE 500'. The description reads:

"One more legend from my stable up for grabs!! The iconic Indian FTR1200 Sports Edition 2019 … Less than a 1000 kms, almost brand new and showroom condition! The 2025 version costs 23 lacs on road and this one can be yours for 8.5 lacs only! Yep, you heard it right!!! And of course, VVVIP number !!

Now, there are a few things that need to be disclosed and discussed here. First up, the FTR 1200 is no longer in production. Thus, the ' 2025 version costs 23 lakh on road' part stands invalid. Indian Motorcycles axed the FTR 1200 in late 2024, citing poor global demand, and resorted back to the Scout, Chief, and other familiar 'big bike' nameplates.

Second, the 23 lakh on-road price sounds slightly 'ambitious', as the last recorded on-road price for the FTR 1200 Sport was around 20 lakh in Mumbai. The 23 lakh that's being mentioned here was the price of the Race Replica variant.

Roy's Instagram post has had good traction, and people are showering comments. We see some people raising concerns on the low kilometers despite the motorcycle being over six years old. This is something only Roy will be able to answer. Maybe he used it only for short rides occasionally.

Rohit Roy also owns and runs several businesses and is reported to have a net worth of around 99 crores. Notably, he owns the company 'AceSquad Security Services LLP' which provides security services to A-list celebrities like Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Over the years, we have seen Rohit own the likes of a Mercedes Benz E-Class, MG Hector and an MG Comet.

More About The Indian FTR 1200 S

Indian Motorcycles is an American motorcycle brand which is known for making big bikes- mostly cruisers, baggers and bobbers. It launched the FTR 1200 in two different variants- S and Race Replica in India in August 2019. The FTR is a roadster motorcycle with a Flat-Tracker- inspired design and a powerful engine. It was originally projected as the road-going version of Indian's highly successful FTR 750 flat tracker.

FTR 1200, however, did not stand too close to the 750- neither with its packaging nor with the acceptance. The motorcycle had a muscular profile and a 750-inspired teardrop-shaped fuel tank.

The FTR 1200 used to draw its juice from a 1203cc, liquid-cooled, v-twin engine which could deliver 121.6PS and 117.9Nm. This motorcycle had incredible power-to-weight ratio and dynamics. It had a trellis frame and the suspension consisted of a set of inverted front forks and a rear monoshock. The bike came with 17-inch wheels on both variants. The front wheel had a twin-disc setup while the rear came with a single disc with Brembo callipers.

The kit on this motorcycle consisted of electronic riding aids such as traction control, cornering ABS, wheelie control and launch control, a 4-inch round TFT console, smartphone connectivity and more.

The official announcement about its discontinuation came early this year. It was revealed in an earnings call published by Polaris Industries, the company which owns the motorcycle brand.

The earnings call said “The company realized certain costs associated with the wind down of the FTR product line beginning in the fourth quarter of 2024.”- underlining the fact that the FTR is no more on sale, and Indian is clearing the stocks. At the time of writing this article, the motorcycle has been removed from Indian's official website as well.
