Malayalam Actress Mamta Mohandas Buys Toyota Innova Hycross [Video]

Mamta Mohandas is an actress who works primarily in the Malayalam film industry. She is also known for her bold choices and taste in cars. She owns a drool-worthy collection of cars and SUVs. The latest addition to her garage is a brand-new Toyota Innova Hycross.
A video of the actress taking delivery of the new Hycross from Kairali Toyota- a dealer in Kochi, has now been shared online. It shows Mamta arriving at the dealership in her BMW Z4 finished in the Thundernight Metallic shade. She walks into the facility, where she is joined by her family.
She completes the paperwork and unwraps the car together with the family. The Hycross seems to be for her parents, as it is her dad who receives the key. The family then celebrates the occasion by cutting a cake together. At the time of delivery, this Hycross doesn't have a number plate. Towards the end of the video, we see the actress driving her Z4, followed by the parents in the newly bought Hycross.
Toyota launched the Hycross in India in 2022. Back then, it was priced from Rs 18.30 lakh, ex-showroom. It comes with two powertrains- normal petrol and strong hybrid petrol. Today, the top-spec variant has an ex-showroom price of Rs 32.58 lakh. It is unclear which variant the actress bought for her parents. Interestingly, the top variant of the Innova Crysta diesel has an ex-showroom price of Rs 26.82 lakh. This means that the Hycross is much more expensive than the Crysta.
When compared to the Crysta, the Hycross has a more SUV-like appearance. It now comes in six exterior colour options. The Hycross, further has the same ground clearance as the Crysta. It is, however, longer and wider than the diesel Innova, with a longer wheelbase.
Inside, the Hycross is much different from the Crysta, and comes with a multi-layered dashboard, a large 10.1-inch floating touchscreen, rectangular AC vents, dashboard-mounted gear lever, and more. The higher variants also get paddle shifters, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, memory function for the driver’s seat, ambient lighting and a powered tailgate.
Two seating configurations are available on the Hycross- 7 and 8-seater. The seven-seater configuration gets two captain chairs in the middle row with segment-first Ottomans. The eight-seater has a middle bench.
Talking of specifications, the Hycross is underpinned by Toyota's TNGA-C monocoque platform. The strong hybrid powertrain is available only on the higher variants- VX, ZX and ZX (O). It uses a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine that runs on Atkinson or Miller cycle as the base. The hybrid has a combined power output of 184hp, and is mated to an e-drive transmission.
The second engine choice- a non-hybrid petrol engine that makes 172hp and 205Nm. It comes mated to a CVT transmission. No manual gearbox is on offer. The vehicle has a front-wheel drive (FWD) layout. The Hycross strong hybrid is claimed to deliver a fuel efficiency of 23.24kpl
Toyota claims a fuel efficiency figure of 23.24kpl for the hybrid, while the naturally aspirated version gets a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 16.13kpl.
Mamta Mohandas often makes headlines with her expensive car shopping. She bought the BMW Z4 M40i in February 2024. Back then, it was worth over a crore.
Another member of her garage is a Porsche Taycan EV which she bought in May 2024. She has also had a Yellow Porsche 911 Carrera S in her garage.
