Actor Ajith Kumar Buys 660 Bhp Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06 Roadster (Video)
South Indian actor Ajith Kumar is known for his unique taste in cars and passion for motorsports. His garage has a lot of exciting models in it. Ajith has now added a new mid-engined sports car to his collection- a Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06 roadster! For the uninitiated, the Z06 is the high-performance version of the Corvette, featuring the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine in a production vehicle. Think of it as something that will excite you both on the track and on open roads.
Ajith Kumar Takes Delivery Of His Corvette Z06
A video has now surfaced, showing the actor taking delivery of the C8 Corvette Z06 roadster from a dealer in Dubai. There it has a price of AED 624,800 (Rs 1.4 Cr).
It starts by showing the car awaiting its new owner. It has been decorated to celebrate the occasion and we soon see Ajith walking in and checking his new acquisition out. He gets inside the cockpit and is seen talking with people around. These, we think, are the dealer staff.
Later in the video, we even see him removing the vehicle's top, confirming that it is the convertible that the actor has added to his garage. Chevrolet sells both coupe and convertible (roadster) versions of the Corvette in Dubai.
The actor then hops in, fires up the engine and drives the sports car out of the dealer yard. Towards the end of the video, we can see him speeding onto the highway and driving carefully amidst traffic. Ajith Kumar has dedicated fanbases for both his acting career and car enthusiasm. People seem to love his newest purchase and have been showing up with congratulatory comments.
Chevy Corvette C8 Z06 Convertible: What Is So Special About It?
Chevrolet revealed the C8 Corvette Z06 in 2021. Soon, many started calling it the perfect Porsche 911 GT3 rival. The C8 in its name, shows that the car is now in its eighth generation. The biggest talking point remained the brand-new engine. It was the most powerful naturally aspirated V8, at the time of its launch, and came with a flat-plane crank.
The engine, called the LT5 V8, is handbuilt and motorsport-derived. It comes from the powerplant used in Chevrolet's IMSA C8-R race cars. Combining the flat-plane crank, a short stroke and lightweight construction, it can rev to 8600 rpms!
The output figures are 660bhp of peak power and 624 Nm of maximum torque. The transmission offered is a Tremec-sourced eight-speed dual-clutch unit.
Chevy also offers a series of add-ons and packages on this car. We don't yet know which of these have been added to the actor's car. The Z06 has a wider bodywork across the front axle, compared to the Z07 track car. It runs on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres. The Z07's handling package gets these upgraded to Cup 2s. The car has a mid-engined layout and rear-wheel drive. There is a very strong focus on performance and handling.
Mid-Cycle Refresh Incoming
As obvious from this story, the Corvette C8 is due for a mid-cycle refresh, which is expected to be out in 2026. Test mules of the updated car have already been spotted. Going by these, the interior of the refreshed Corvette will house notable improvements.
The 8.0 inch touchscreen from the outgoing car is likely to be carried over. The cockpit design, layout and materials used are expected to be improved. For now, we don't know if the new Corvette will have mechanical updates gones into it or not...
