Techie Working At Amazon Hyderabad Shows How Entire Floor Is Reserved For Free EV Charging [Video]

Electric vehicles are gaining popularity in India. While the government and authorities are promoting electric vehicles, one factor that makes most people still hesitant to buy them is the lack of charging infrastructure. In the past, we have seen several reports on how people living in high-rise buildings have been facing issues with installing chargers or getting their EVs charged. Here we have a video posted by a techie from Hyderabad showing how Amazon is offering an entire floor for EV owners to charge and park their vehicles.
The video has been shared by Prakash Suraj on his YouTube channel. In this video, we see him next to his MG ZS EV parked at his office parking area. He shows how convenient it is for him to charge an EV when he is at the office.
He works for Amazon, and at their Hyderabad office of the Amazon Development Center, they have dedicated a whole floor to EVs. EV owners can park their cars and charge them while they are working. It also looks like the owners don’t have to pay for charging.
We see that the whole floor has hundreds of parking slots, all designed for EVs. Chargers have been placed next to each slot so that the person parking the vehicle doesn’t have to worry about finding a charging point.
In this video, the vlogger shows how a multi-level building or parking facility can efficiently manage EVs. The floor seen here is dedicated only to EVs, and no petrol or diesel cars are allowed.
This way, EV owners won’t face any problems, and other ICE vehicle owners won’t have to worry about chargers short-circuiting or EVs catching fire. This smart way of managing parking lots is actually a good way to promote EVs.
The employees don’t have to pay to charge their cars and also don’t have to worry about finding a perfect spot. As a company, we should appreciate Amazon’s efforts in taking such an initiative, as this is a great way to promote EVs among buyers. The vlogger, at the end of the video, can be heard saying that this is the only reason why he went ahead and bought the MG ZS EV.
While we have several private firms entering charging infrastructure development, most of it is happening only in major cities and on highways. We have also come across several incidents recently where EV owners had bad experiences with charging stations. They had planned a road trip, and when they reached the charging station, it was not functioning.
When something like this happens, people start developing range anxiety and rethink the whole idea of buying an EV over a regular petrol, diesel, or CNG vehicle. If they are provided with proper charging stations, people will automatically get attracted to EVs despite the higher price tag, as they would be far more practical than they currently are.
