Ambulance Causes Car To Flip On Bengaluru’s Electronic City Elevated Road: Caught On Video

In metro cities, emergency vehicles like ambulances and police vehicles often get stuck in traffic jams. In many states, ambulance drivers are helpless, and in a bid to make way for their vehicles, they often end up in accidents. Here we have a video from Bengaluru where an ambulance causes an accident, flipping a car on an elevated city road. The entire incident was caught on camera and has now gone viral on the internet.
The video was shared by Debnath Das on their X profile. It was captured by the dashcam of a car passing through the Electronic City elevated road in Bengaluru. In the footage, we see a speeding ambulance approaching from the rear, likely transporting a patient.
According to the video, the accident happened on Monday at around 5:30 p.m. The ambulance was making its way through the busy road, and car drivers were giving way to it, which is commendable. Behind the car that recorded the accident, there was a biker, followed by a Hyundai i10 hatchback. The Hyundai i10 driver moved the car to the shoulder of the road but didn’t realize there was an electric scooter rider on the elevated road.
The car driver applied the brakes, and it appears the i10 driver tried their best to make way for the ambulance. However, there was no way they could have avoided the electric scooter. The i10 driver likely oversteered and crashed into the wall of the elevated road. The ambulance applied its brakes as well, and in the video, we can see smoke coming from its front tires.
After crashing into the wall, the car flipped and collided with the scooter rider. The ambulance also stopped, while the biker behind the dashcam car continued riding. It is unclear whether the ambulance hit the car or if the car driver’s quick reaction caused the car to flip.
According to various internet reports, the occupants of the car and the Yulu e-bike rider were all safe and escaped without any major injuries.
Now, let’s analyze the video again. All the motorists were doing their part correctly by giving way to the ambulance, as it was an emergency vehicle. When the i10 driver heard the sirens and saw the beacon lights in the ORVM, their attention shifted, ensuring the ambulance had enough space to overtake.
While doing so, the driver completely forgot about the traffic on the left-hand side. The Yulu e-bike wasn’t initially visible. The driver likely couldn’t see the electric scooter rider because of the bike in front. By the time they saw the scooter, it was too late, and to avoid a crash, they applied the brakes.
This is what caused the accident. In this case, the Yulu e-bike was the reason for the crash. It was moving extremely slowly on the left shoulder, and the speeding car driver had to apply the brakes to avoid a collision.
Many flyovers and elevated roads in India do not allow slow-moving vehicles like bikes and auto-rickshaws. we are not sure if the road seen here in the video had some regulation like that or not. In this case, the bridge was narrow, and both the car driver and the ambulance driver should have been more careful while overtaking and giving way.
