In India, you never know what you might see on the road. Sometimes, you can see ultra-expensive and rare supercars and superbikes. Meanwhile, on other occasions, you can see animals like lions and elephants on the roads. Now, we Indians have become used to such surprises. However, people who visit from other countries are not accustomed to seeing animals on public roads. Recently, a video has gone viral on the internet in which a popular zookeeper from the United States of America was shocked to see an elephant being transported openly in the back of a truck.

In this particular short clip, Holston, who is visiting Kerala, is seen coming out of the rear window of a Kia Seltos SUV. He can then be seen in a complete state of surprise and shock after seeing a massive elephant in the rear of a truck. Holston even shouts at the driver of the truck and exclaims, “Dude, you have an elephant in the back of your truck!”

This Is the Only Way to Transport Elephants

As shocking as it was for Holston to see an elephant in the back of a truck, to many Indians living in the southern states of the country, it is a fairly common sight. Elephants are generally very calm animals, and due to their size, there is no other way to transport them from one place to another.

As mentioned above, it is true that, generally, elephants are very calm and do not harm humans. However, wild elephants that live in forests are very protective by nature. If they feel that their young ones could be in danger from people visiting their forest, they can charge and attack. Recently, the same thing happened to a group of people driving through a forest in Kerala’s Malakkappara.

A group of people in a car were driving through a forest when they came across an adult elephant and its calf. Both were crossing the road. Unfortunately, this particular elephant felt threatened by the vehicle, and as a result, it charged towards it. During this time, the driver could not immediately engage the reverse gear.

Due to this, the vehicle was stopped on the road, and the elephant came and started attacking the vehicle. It closed the left ORVM of the vehicle and stepped on the bonnet. Thankfully, after realizing that the vehicle was not a threat to its calf, it moved away. But as soon as it was about to go into the forest, the car driver started slowly reversing.

This then caused panic for the elephant, and it again charged towards the car. The road behind was a twisty, narrow road, so the vehicle could not be reversed quickly. What actually happened to the people inside the car is unknown.
