Underage kids getting behind the wheels of cars and SUVs and causing mishaps have become common sights. A new video circulating on Reddit shows something very alarming. It shows a kid- apparently under 16, driving a Maruti Swift. He is soon stopped and questionned by a guy. It further shows the aggression and attitude of the kid- that makes the beholder unsettled and uncomfortable. These could make him commit bigger crimes in the future, without any fear of the law.

The kid tells the guy in a very aggressive tone: ” Talk to my cop dad”. Sheer arrogance can be seen on his face. He dials his dad. The guy talks to him, introducing himself as a journalist. He explains that the car was using PCR lights- The Red and Blue emergency blinkers used on cop cars- which are not allowed on private cars. (Watch the video carefully and you’ll find these behind the front windshield.)

The cop seems to be harsh in the beginning, but soon makes a shift to a softer tone, after he gets to know that the guy is a journalist. The guy further asks about the boy’s age, to which the cop replies ’18’. In the conversation that follows, we get to see this lie getting exposed, and the dad admitting the boy to be under-age. The dad further tries to settle the matter by making a promise that he will talk to the kid and correct him, making sure he doesn’t repeat his mistake.

The title of the video says ‘ The attitude of this kid can cause some serious trouble in the future’, and won’t dare to disagree. People in comments, relate him to Vedant Agarwal, the 17-year-old rich kid whose Porsche Taycan rammed into a motorcycle in Pune, killing two. The incident had drawn attention to the rising count of under-age drivers in India. Those with money and power seem to be comfortably enjoying this forbidden privilege.

Vedant Agarwal’s Porsche Crash

Vedant is the son of the affluent real estate developer Vishal Agarwal, who owns Bramha Realty and Infrastructure Private Limited. On May 19 this year, the 17 year old kid got behind the wheel of his brand-new Porsche Taycan Turbo S. The teen got to some serious speeds, which reports say, was around 200 kph. Near Kalyani Nagar junction in Pune, he lost control and hit a motorcycle. Reports say that the juvenile was intoxicated at the time of the crash. A bill showing Rs 48,000 from a luxury bar was reportedly recovered from the crash site.

The motorcycle had two on it- two 24-year-old software engineers from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh- Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta. Both died in the crash. The incident sparked massive public outrage, and the accused was soon arrested. With his affluent background, Vedant and his family reportedly tried to cover up. His parents and grandfather were later arrested for these attempts.

Following an investigation, Porsche confirmed that the Taycan involved had no defects or technical issues. The Agarwals bought their new Taycan Turbo S from Porsche Centre Bengaluru, and not the Pune dealer.

The electric sportscar was not registered at the time of the crash, as the owner refused to pay Rs 1,758, required to complete the process. Reports say that this sum included hypothecation fees of Rs 1500, smart card RC fees of Rs 200, and Rs 58 in postal charges. It thus had just a valid temporary registration certificate at the time of the incident. Usually, temporary registration has a validity of six months.

The Porsche was soon impounded for 12 months and its temporary registration cancelled. The teen was ordered to not be granted his driving license till he turns 25. The case is still ongoing and public awaits proper justice to be delivered to the deceased.
