The Ather 450X has just proven why it's one of the toughest electric scooters in the country. In a recent YouTube video by the popular channel MR. INDIAN HACKER, the Bengaluru-based brand's electric scooter was put to some of the most extreme and unorthodox torture tests, and the 450X survived with surprising results. It was dropped from a height of over 15 ft. The 450X remained intact and functioning, even after the drop. It was part of a larger series of tests aimed at testing the durability of the scooter.

Ather Energy has built a solid reputation in India’s EV market with a strong focus on quality and technology. But this brutal durability test goes far beyond anything that the company or its users would have imagined.

Ather 450X Put To Extreme Tests!

The video begins with water being dropped on the 450X from a height. Despite getting soaked, the scooter continues to function normally. From there, the team throws it around on sandy ground and asphalt, repeating the process multiple times.

The abuse doesn’t stop there. The YouTuber then puts the scooter's suspension to test. The YouTuber, together with his friends, rams the rear wheel against the ground violently. The suspension, however, takes no damage!

Next, the YouTuber punches the body and misuses its components in every possible way. They stay intact and continue to work perfectly. Later in the video, the team makes the 450X fall on its sides.

In one of the most outrageous parts of the test, the scooter is used to tow a Toyota Etios. It does so with ease. Later in the video, we see the Etios deliberately crashing into the side of the electric scooter. The result? Just a broken mirror. The car, on the other hand, ended up having dents and cracks.

Now comes the jaw-dropping drop test! The scooter is lifted to a height of 15 feet with the help of a crane. It is then dropped suddenly. The vehicle survives the fall and takes minimal damage. Surprised by the outcome, the team decides to increase the drop height to 40 feet. This Ather 450X is finally been dropped from a height of 40 ft! This time, both mirrors are broken, and the vehicle takes visible dents as well. Regardless of these, it remains rideable.

While these tests were far from being scientific or standardised, they showcased how durable the Ather 450X is. From taking water blasts and physical abuse to surviving multiple drops and a car crash, the electric scooter did it all!

More About The Ather 450X

Ather Energy launched the 2025 450X, with updated features and a slight price hike, in January this year. The new scooter is available in two battery options – 2.9kWh (priced at Rs 1.47 lakh) and 3.7kWh (with an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.57 lakh). This marks a price increase of Rs 6,400 and Rs 2,000, respectively, over the predecessors. Buyers can also opt for the Pro Pack, which adds Rs 17,000 to the cost of the smaller battery variant and Rs 20,000 to the larger one.

One of the biggest additions for 2025 is the introduction of traction control. The scooter now gets three traction control modes – Rain, Road, and Rally – each offering different levels of intervention for various riding conditions. For experienced riders, the system can be turned off completely.

Another major upgrade is the inclusion of Ather’s Magic Twist regenerative braking system, previously seen on the 450 Apex. The scooter also gets new MRF Zapper N e-Tred tyres. These have been specially co-developed to reduce rolling resistance, helping to improve real-world efficiency. Thanks to these tyres, the true range of the 2.9kWh variant has increased from 85km to 105km. The 3.7kWh version now claims a true range of 130km, up from 105km previously.

Additionally, the 2.9kWh variant now comes with the Ather Duo 700W home charger, which can charge the battery from 0 to 80% in just three hours.

Customers choosing the Pro Pack will also get the AtherStack 6 full-suite. This includes onboard Google Maps navigation, Alexa integration, WhatsApp notifications on the display, the Ping My Scooter feature, and live location sharing.
