Accidents happen on our roads every day. Careless driving is one of the major reasons behind such incidents. However, there are instances where the accidents are not caused by the drivers but because of the fault of the authorities. Sadly, it is often the public who has to pay the price for such mistakes. Here we have one such video where an Audi A4 sedan being driven on a village road at night crashes into a pile of dirt due to a lack of signboard and light on the road.

The video has been shared by Prateek Singh on his YouTube channel. The video was shared with him by one of his followers. The owner of the dashcam car was a doctor, and he was driving through a single-lane road in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly.

The owner was driving through this narrow road at night, and as seen in the video, there are no road signs or street lamps that give you any idea about the surroundings. As the road was empty, the driver was maintaining a speed of 70 kmph and above. Before the crash, the car had even touched speeds of over 100 kmph on this road. He was driving the car on low beam, and that was actually helping other road users coming from the opposite direction get a sense of the road and move away.

However, just after the car crossed a bike, it crashed into a pile of dirt in the middle of the road. The owner was following the road but was not aware of the fact that a bridge ahead was closed for maintenance or construction.

The road was diverted, but he didn’t see any road signs, reflectors, or barricades on the road. The car crashed into the dirt pile and immediately came to a stop. The front of the car was completely damaged in the crash, as the car was maintaining a speed that was above usual on the road.

The board was, in fact, placed after the dirt pile, and the car had stopped right in front of that board. The owner blamed the lack of road signs as the cause of the accident and took the car to the authorised service centre.

His car was insured and he was hoping to get the car fixed under insurance. However, he was disappointed by the way the service centre had treated him. He mentions that the service centre gave him an estimate of around Rs 9.5 lakh, but the insurance company denied approving the claim, stating that the car was being driven at high speed.

The owner also mentioned that he suspects the insurance company employee was not interested in the car because the value was pretty low. He mentioned that the same company had approved total loss claims for other cars in the service centre.

The exact reason for denying the claim is not clear in this case. The owner mentions that he had left the car in the service centre for over 3 months, and during this time, several parts of his car have also gone missing, and the service centre is not taking responsibility for the same.

The accident could have been avoided if the driver was a bit more careful, but we cannot overlook the fact that the authorities had failed to put up proper signboards before the construction started to avoid this accident.
