Bengaluru is as much famous for its ‘unstable’ cab services as it is for its hectic traffic and infamous jams. Many digital cab services like OLA, Uber and Blusmart operate in the city. People often rely heavily on these due to their easy-to-use app-based operations. However, on some days and during certain peak hours, OLA and Uber drivers can land you in trouble. Many drivers tend to cancel rides or not accept them at all. This often causes inconvenience to the passengers/users. Recently, a Bengaluru man found himself in the same scenario and chose to tackle it in a way that set the internet talking. After ‘no-show’ from OLA and Uber drivers, he got himself delivered to his office (!) using a Porter two wheeler!

If you don’t know it yet, Porter is an app-based, on-demand delivery and logistics service for goods and packages. You book your porter ride on your smartphone, hand over the package to the delivery partner and get it delivered. Think of it as a more sophisticated and capable version of the Swiggy Genie! Since it is primarily a goods and packages delivery service, not many would think about using it as a mode of commute. After all, who would imagine himself/ herself getting ‘delivered’ to a place?!

This man, who goes by the name Pathik on social media, soon took to Twitter to explain the strange-yet-smart incident. He posted a photo which shows him being the pillion on the delivery partner’s two-wheeler and getting ‘portered’. In the image, the rider can be seen wearing a helmet with ‘Porter’ branding on it. The caption read ‘ Had to porter myself to office today because no Ola, Uber’. This interesting ride took place on February 6, 2025.

Pathik explained that he was finding it difficult to book a ride on OLA and Uber. He was on his way to his office and had little time to waste. This finally made him go for the unconventional mode of commute. The post has gained massive traction on social media. Many users can be seen commenting and appreciating Pathik for his action. Some call it a “genius Bengaluru moment”. The creative solution to one of Bengaluru’s working class’ biggest problems definitely deserves appreciation, and the netizens are doing the same now.

Some X users even commented that they too have thought of doing the same, but never attempted them. Many corporate employees in Bengaluru tweak their working hours to avoid the city’s congestion and slow-moving hours.

A user pointed out a rather interesting finding/fact about Porter in comments- that the app permits delivery of goods that weigh up to 5 kilograms. He raised his curiosity on how the Bengaluru man could get himself delivered to office, with this policy in place. Another user soon came up with a convincing response to this- ‘Give the rider a little extra and he will be more than happy to transport you. Porter doesn’t need to know the actual details of the package’

Another user commented- ‘Don’t give Zepto ideas bro’- a smart dig at the online grocery delivery service that claims to do deliveries in under 10 minutes, and is currently known to be looking to expand beyond groceries. Remember the recent partnership they had announced with Skoda India for potential Kylaq deliveries? Another interesting comment reads “Modern problems require modern solutions huh?” – Yes they do!

This is not a one-off incident of OLA and Uber services getting delayed, causing inconvenience and confusion to users in Bengaluru. In a separate incident, another man from the city was stranded on a flyover after his Rapido ride remained stationary for an extended period, triggered by the heavy traffic of the place.
