BJP MLA Gets Mahindra Thar Fitted With 'Modi' Numberplate: Netizens Wants Action

Mahindra launched the current-generation Mahindra Thar back in 2020. It became an instant hit among buyers, and the SUV has a huge fan following of its own. Many celebrities have even bought this SUV. Thanks to its imposing road presence, many politicians have also purchased the SUV. One such politician is BJP MLA K.V. Ramana Reddy from Telangana. He bought a Mahindra Thar a few years ago. A video of him taking delivery has now gone viral because he fitted a number plate with ‘Modi’ written on it.
The video has been shared by Sanatani Thakur on her X profile. In the video, we see the politician take delivery of his new Mahindra Thar. The video is from 2023, and the reason it went viral was because of the number plate on the SUV. The Mahindra Thar was registered in Telangana, and the number plate had the number ‘4749’ written in such a manner that it looked like the politician had written ‘Modi’ in Hindi.
In fact, the video talks about that as well. The people and the woman gathered around the vehicle were seen praising the politician for doing this. However, the comment section under the video told a different story. In fact, most of those who came across this video were actually angry with this behaviour and wanted authorities to take action.
Some of the comments under the video include: “It is illegal to write the number plate in such a manner. The MV Act prescribes a certain font and style. Other than that, it is not valid and attracts a fine. Being a lawmaker, he should follow the rules.” “Brilliant, but an illegal idea… Hope he gets an RTO-approved number plate and uses this design as a sticker on the windshield…”
“Nothing to be proud of for the ILLEGAL number plate. God knows how hon @nitin_gadkari will react to this development! Is it that flouting of rules by #BJP leaders is ACCEPTABLE? Maybe @amitmalviya could give the answers! #Amritkaal for those flouting rules!”
The reason why most people are angry at the politician and want action against him is because these types of number plates are actually illegal. Vehicles registered in India must have number plates that use standard Latin letters and Arabic numerals with specified dimensions. The use of fancy lettering, artwork, or decorative fonts is prohibited.
We have seen cops stopping cars and bikes for the same offence and issuing challans. In fact, many states have implemented High-Security Registration Plates to standardise things. Politicians often get away with such offences because of the power they hold, and that is the reason why netizens wanted action against the BJP MLA.
As mentioned above, this video is from 2023, and we really hope the politician and concerned authorities came across this video and the concerns raised by the public. He should have ideally set an example for others by removing this fancy number plate and installing the correct one. We hope that necessary action was taken and that the politician installed the correct number plate afterwards.
