Electric vehicles are gaining popularity among car buyers in India. It’s not just the common man; several celebrities have also started following the trend of buying electric cars. Some of them go for humble mass-market EVs, while others have bought expensive EVs from premium and luxury categories. Raj Kundra is a popular Indian businessman and the husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. He recently bought a brand-new Lotus Eletre electric SUV. Raj Kundra is officially the first person in Bollywood to buy this luxury EV. The English sports car manufacturer officially entered the Indian market with the Eletre SUV, which costs around Rs 2.55 crore ex-showroom.
The Lotus brand is currently owned by Geely, and there is some Chinese influence in the design. The Eletre is available in three variants: Eletre, Eletre S, and Eletre R. The Eletre and Eletre S feature a 603 hp and 710 Nm dual-motor system, with a maximum range of 600 km. Meanwhile, the Eletre R comes with a 905 hp, 985 Nm dual-motor setup coupled with a 2-speed transmission and a maximum range of 490 km.
Next on the list is the young singer Jasleen Royal. She bought the premium BYD Atto 3 SUV. The exact variant that the singer purchased is not clear. Jasleen bought the Atto 3 in a shade of black. The BYD Atto 3 is available in 3 variants: Dynamic, Extended Range, and Special Edition. The Dynamic version uses a 49.92 kWh battery pack, while the higher trims get a larger 60.48 kWh battery pack.
The electric SUV generates 204 PS and 310 Nm of peak torque. The smaller battery pack delivers a claimed range of 468 km on a single charge, while the larger battery pack offers a claimed range of 521 km on a single charge. The price for the BYD Atto 3 electric SUV starts at ₹24.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to ₹33.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mandira was one of the first celebrities to buy a Tata Nexon EV. It appears that she used the SUV for quite some time and has now decided to upgrade. She recently purchased a brand-new Volvo C40 Recharge EV, worth Rs 62.95 lakh ex-showroom. The Volvo C40 was officially launched in the Indian market last year. The C40 Recharge is essentially an XC40 Recharge redesigned with a coupe-like appearance.
It is powered by a 78 kWh battery pack, and the SUV has a claimed driving range of 530 km. As this SUV has dual motors, the power is sent to all four wheels, and the electric motor generates a combined 408 PS and 660 Nm of peak torque.
Actor Adhyayan Suman, son of a popular Indian television and film actor Shekhar Suman, recently bought an Audi Q8 e-tron. It appears to be a gift from his father. The price for a brand-new Audi Q8 e-tron starts at Rs 1.15 crore ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 1.27 crore ex-showroom.
Audi offers the Q8 e-tron in two battery pack options: a 95 kWh battery pack and a 114 kWh battery pack, both with a dual-motor setup. The 95 kWh battery pack version generates 340 PS and 664 Nm of torque, while the larger battery pack option generates 408 PS and 664 Nm of torque. The smaller battery pack version returns a claimed range of 491 km, while the larger, more expensive one offers around 582 km.
The RRR superstar Ram Charan bought a brand-new Rolls Royce Spectre EV. It is the first-ever electric car from Rolls Royce, and not many celebrities own this model. The Spectre EV has been officially launched at a base price of Rs 7.5 crore. The Spectre EV is equipped with a massive 102 kWh battery pack that delivers around 530 km of range. The electric motor generates 575 bhp and 900 Nm of peak torque.
