Owner Remaps Skoda Kylaq Immediately After Taking Delivery: Gets 130 Bhp-250 Nm Outputs [Video]

The Skoda Kylaq is the newest and most affordable offering from the Czech automaker. It has been designed to meet the needs of people who are looking to buy a premium subcompact SUV. However, some enthusiasts see the Kylaq as a base for a perfect enthusiast car. Recently, one such mad performance enthusiast bought himself the new Kylaq and drove directly from the dealership to the tuning shop to get a stage 1 tune. This particular Kylaq has now become the country's first tuned Kylaq.
This unique video of a brand-new Skoda Kylaq getting a stage 1 tune has been shared on YouTube by The Drivers Hub on their channel. It starts off with the host of the channel beginning the clip at a Skoda dealership. He explains that his friend is taking delivery of the Skoda Kylaq top-spec variant, Prestige. After this, he mentions that his mad (as in performance enthusiast) friend will be taking the vehicle directly to a shop to tune it.
Soon after, the host’s friend takes delivery, and they head directly toward the shop where it gets tuned. The host in the video then explains that the Skoda Kylaq has an ECU that must be removed from the vehicle and taken to the table to be flashed with the remap. For those who may not be aware, many vehicles can be directly tuned using the OBD-II port.
Moving on in the video, the host also highlights that there is ambiguity about whether the Skoda Kylaq can be tuned or not at this time. However, within a couple of moments, he and his friend are notified that the Skoda Kylaq's ECU is unlocked and can be flashed with the stage 1 tune from the super-popular tuning company Code6.
After this, when the ECU gets tuned, it is placed back inside the vehicle, and the owner of the car, along with his friend and two others, takes it on a test drive. It can be seen that the owner was immediately driving it to its limits, after which they stop for a fuel refill, and the host explains more details.
He highlights that currently, four people are sitting inside the vehicle, and it has not been filled with 95-octane fuel. So, after filling it up with better fuel and the owner going on the drive alone, they will determine whether the tune has been successfully flashed or not.
The video then shows the host taking the driver's seat of the freshly tuned Skoda Kylaq. He highlights that he can immediately feel that the vehicle is a lot more responsive. The host mentions that many people complain that the 1.0-litre TSI engine is very laggy at the lower RPM band. However, this tune completely rectifies the issue.
He then goes on to mention that, according to Code6, their stage 1 flash tune bumps up the power figure of the Skoda Kylaq from 118 bhp to 130 bhp, and its torque increases from 178 Nm to 250 Nm, which is a significant power upgrade. He continues driving the vehicle and mentions that the difference can be felt after the tune.
In the same video, the host mentions that many people will be worried about the owner tuning the car before properly finishing the run-in period. However, he explains that new Skoda vehicles are generally run-in from the company, and the first service interval is at 15,000 km. So, according to them, it was perfectly fine to tune a brand-new vehicle. However, if someone wants to complete a run-in period in their Skoda, they can do so.
