a hindra and Tata are some of the most popular Indian SUV manufacturers in India. Other than manufacturing SUVs, these Indian brands are known for their build quality. We have seen several cases in the past where Tata and Mahindra cars involved in serious accidents save the occupants without any injuries. Here we have one such accident video where a brand new Tata Nexon.ev crashed into a Mahindra Scorpio N SUV.

The video has been shared by Rahil Khan on his Instagram page. It looks like the accident happened somewhere in the Delhi NCR region. We see a brand new Tata Nexon.ev with a damaged fender, headlamp and wheel arch. The video claims that the Nexon.ev seen here was a brand new vehicle and it was on its way to the temple for pooja rituals when this happened.

We are not sure how this accident happened. The Mahindra Scorpio N got a minor damage on front bumper. If you notice carefully, the registration number on the Scorpio N is also missing. This means even the Scorpio N was a brand new vehicle. When compared to the Nexon.ev, the Mahindra Scorpio N got also minor damages.

The Nexon.ev on the other hand has a damaged headlamp. Both the SUVs have scored 5 star rating at Bharat NCAP crash test. The Nexon.ev scored 29.86 points out of 32 in Adult occupants and 44.95 points out of 49 in Child safety. Mahindra Scorpio N had scored 5 star rating in Global NCAP crash test.

The comment section under this video is actually interesting. Many social media users who are supporters of Tata cars can be seen saying that the Mahindra Scorpio N had scored 0 stars in Australian NCAP. Why Scorpio N scored zero stars in the Australasian NCAP crash is because the SUV was missing ADAS features. The Nexon also missses out on these features and we feel that the Nexon would have also scored poorly in the test.

Nexon vs Scorpio N

Some of them are even seen commenting that the Scorpio N owner should test the vehicle against Tata Harrier. Another person wrote that the build quality of Nexon.ev is not the same as Nexon.

Once again, we would like to bring the attention to the myths behind the build quality. We often consider the thickness of the exterior sheet metal to analyse the exterior build quality. That is not the right way. Due to current safety regulations and norms, manufacturers have to make the exterior body panels in such a manner that it is safe for pedestrians.

To meet these norms, the exterior panels often have a flex in them. This is often considered as a sign of bad build quality by many so called social media influencers. It is not the skin of the car that saves you from a crash in case of an accident.

It is in fact the structure of the SUV. It is actually the sturdiness of the frame that saves the occupants in the car. Even in crash tests, the agency tests if the structure of the vehicle is stable after the test not the exterior skin.
