Renault Kwid Falls Upside Down Into A Canal: Grandmother And Grandkids Rescued By Auto Drivers [Video]

Accidents happen on our roads almost every day. Carelessness or rash driving is the cause of accidents in most cases. Hundreds of people lose their loved ones in road accidents almost every day. There are also cases where people have escaped miraculously from major accidents. Here we have one such video where a grandma and her grandkids were rescued by locals after their car fell upside down into a canal.
The video has been shared by Asianet News on their Instagram page. The report mentions that the accident happened in Kerala’s Kozhikode district. A Renault Kwid car lost control and fell into the Cannoli Canal. Cannoli Canal is a historic waterway that was built in 1848 and served as a crucial trading route until the 1950s.
The Renault car fell into the canal during the day. There were locals and auto drivers sitting at a nearby shop when this accident happened. They saw the car falling into the canal and immediately rushed to the spot. Upon reaching, they realised that the car had fallen upside down and there was water in the canal.
The car had fallen at a spot that was not easily accessible to people. However, the auto drivers and locals who were at the spot jumped into the canal and started rescue operations. A couple of men who were in the canal started rocking the car and, after several attempts, they managed to get the car back on four wheels.
While this was happening, we also see a couple of them trying to break the window glass to rescue the occupants. The rear door of the car opened, and the elderly grandmother was rescued from the car. It is not known if she was the one driving the car or if it was being driven by one of her grandkids.
Details of the occupants in the car are not known at the moment. We see the grandmother and the other two kids walking out of the car without any injuries. It was mostly because of the timely intervention by the local auto drivers that the occupants escaped without injuries.
If the accident had happened at night, the chances of people noticing a car like this in the canal would have been pretty low, as no one would expect anything like this. The comment section under this video is filled with appreciation for the auto drivers who helped the occupants. As the car was lying upside down, the chances of water getting inside the cabin were pretty high.
Also, the occupants in the car would not have been in a condition to move freely inside the vehicle. The occupants were rescued unhurt, and one of the people who was part of the rescue operation mentioned that one of the auto drivers got a minor injury to his hand after he broke the glass of the car to access the cabin and rescue the occupants. The exact cause of this accident is not known yet.
