Driver After Crashing Into Disabled Pedestrian: Don't Touch Me, My Father Is A Cop [Video]

Driving recklessly on the road is a major cause of accidents on our roads. In the past, we have seen several cases from different parts of the country where careless drivers have caused harm to innocent road users. Here we have one such incident from Pune, where a car driven by a youth hit a disabled man on the road. When locals gathered around, the driver started screaming that his father is a policeman.

The video from the spot of the accident has been going viral on the internet since last night. The accident happened at Pune’s Narayan Peth area last Saturday. A group of youngsters were travelling in a car. They were returning from a party when the car rammed into a disabled man on the road.

It is not clear if the car was being driven rashly or if the disabled man was on the road unexpectedly. Reports mention that the disabled man was a pedestrian. This happened at around 11 PM and as soon as the car hit the man, locals who were present at the spot gathered and asked the car’s driver to pull over.

The angry locals surrounded the car and asked the driver and the occupants to get out. It looks like there were four people in the car. Two women in the car stepped out immediately as they were scared. The young driver and his friend were seen trying not to get out. However, when the driver realised that things were getting worse, he decided to step out and was heard shouting, “My father is a cop, do not touch me.”

This probably made things worse for him. The locals pulled the driver out, and he along with his friend were thrashed by the crowd. A team of officers from Vishrambaug Police Station soon reached the spot and took the injured man to the nearest hospital. The officers also took the driver and the other occupants of the car into custody for questioning.

The police officers later confirmed that the disabled man who was hit by the car had not suffered any major injuries and that both sides had decided not to file an official complaint. The matter was settled through mutual reconciliation. After the issue was resolved, the individuals taken into custody were released.

While the reports mention that the youth were returning from a party when this accident happened, it is not known whether the driver of the car was drunk or not. If he was driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, then this is a serious offence as he is not only putting himself at risk, but also the lives of other occupants in the car and innocent road users.

It was not long ago that a minor in Pune, driving a high-end Porsche Taycan electric car at high speed, crashed into a bike in Kalyani Nagar, Pune. The driver of the car was found to be both drunk and underage. In that crash, two IT engineers travelling on the bike were killed.

The comment section under this “cop’s son” video shows how frustrated people are when someone makes a mistake and tries to get away with it just because they are influential. Some of the comments under the video include: “Nothing screams ‘I deserve consequences’ quite like hitting a disabled person and then yelling about daddy's job. Hope Pune Police teaches this privileged brat that badges aren't inherited!” and “Already politicians and now these bureaucrats and their families, rulers of India. We others are mango people.
