The victim, in this case, is a 19-year-old girl who met with an accident on June 30, 2025. Her car was hit by a truck at high speed. CCTV visuals of the same were shared online later. She took severe injuries including a complete fracture on one of her legs.

The accident happened at night. Usually, such cases are extra dangerous, as there wouldn't be many vehicles around and the victims may not get the right attention on time.

Someone soon called for the ambulance. It reached Sajeer, the ambulance driver. Since it was late at night, he had already gone to bed. Shocked by the news, he rushed to the scene. He did not even care to dress up, and went on duty wearing a lungi and T-shirt.

On reaching the crash site, he found the victim to be in great pain. One of her legs was severely fractured. There was blood all around. The girl was unable to move and was in urgent need of proper first aid.

The ambulance driver soon got a hang of the situation and decided to give the girl proper first aid. The broken leg had to be given proper care. He undraped his lungi and used it to tie the fractured leg with the other.

In cases such as this, the injured limb is often tied to a rigid object like a stick or board. If none of those are available, the injured limb is tied to the uninjured limb. This technique is called splinting. It helps in faster healing and in reducing pain.

Sajeer then rushed the victim to the nearest hospital- Baby Memorial Hospital (BMH), Kannur, where she was given further medical attention. The CCTV footage from the hospital shows Sajeer being given a bed sheet to wear instead of his lungi.

The doctors later remarked that the ambulance driver's timely actions saved the victim a lot of pain and further damage to the broken limb. If he had tried to move her without tieing the broken limb to the healthy one, it may have worsened the wounds or may have resulted in severe medical complications.

Sajeer applied the first aid lessons that he learnt at the time of being inducted as an ambulance driver. His presence of mind, and timely action are to be appreciated.

Ambulance Driver Goes Shirtless To Save Teen

Another ' absolute hero moment' occurred in April this year when Ajmal, an ambulance driver arrived at the MI Mission Hospital in Engandiyur, Thrissur, shirtless and rushed an unconscious patient to the casualty ward.

He was cleaning the vehicle after a trip, and was shirtless. One of his friends called him saying that his 17-year-old brother had fallen off the terrace and was unconscious. Ajmal had no time to go to his room and get a shirt. He knew the urgency of the situation and rushed to the friend's house with the vehicle.

The hospital was roughly 9 kilometres away, and Ajmal got the injured teen there in just five minutes! If he had tried to get a shirt for himself, he may not have been able to reach the hospital on time.

Bottomline

Both these incidents show the sheer amount of commitment and effort that ambulance drivers put in to save a life. Timely actions can always keep damage under check...
