Careless Biker Trying To Jump Median Narrowly Escapes Getting Crushed By Skoda Slavia [Video]

In India, bikers are often considered a menace on the road as many of them ride recklessly and create issues for other motorists. We have seen several videos online where bikers make sudden moves on highways and city roads, causing accidents. They even ride on the wrong side of the road, putting their own lives and the lives of other road users at risk. Here, we have one such video where a careless biker trying to jump a median narrowly escapes getting crushed under a speeding car.

The video has been shared by Prateek Singh on his YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger has shared multiple incidents where careless bikers meet with accidents. We will only be discussing one of these incidents. The video was recorded on the dashcam of a Skoda Slavia that was traveling on a national highway.

The owner of the Slavia was driving from Varanasi to Hyderabad in his car when this accident happened. The accident occurred somewhere on the outskirts of Mirzapur. In the video, we see that the highway was not too busy, and the car was being driven at a speed of over 80 kmph. The driver was sticking to the rightmost lane as he was driving fast.

At a distance, we can see a biker in the extreme left lane. He was riding slowly and suddenly decided to turn right. There was no indication, and he didn’t even look at the oncoming traffic. The car driver was also surprised by this behavior, as he was not expecting anything like this to happen. The biker turned the bike and was aiming for the median.

In India, bikers often ride over medians to save time and fuel. They don’t look for a median gap from where they can cross safely. In this case, something similar happened. If you check the video carefully, the biker tried to jump the median. The median was not too high, so the biker decided to simply ride the bike over it and get to the other side.

It doesn’t look like a planned move, as he didn’t check for traffic at all. It was only after he reached the rightmost lane that he checked for oncoming traffic, and by this time, the Skoda Slavia was very close to the biker. If you look at the screen, the dashcam shows the car’s indicated speed at the time of the accident was around 80 kmph.

At such high speeds, applying brakes is not going to make much difference, especially when the stopping distance is short. Luckily, the Slavia driver managed to swerve the car onto the median and avoid hitting the biker. The biker was wearing a helmet, but if the car had hit the bike, the rider would have been seriously injured.

The accident could have easily damaged both the car and the bike. It was the presence of mind of the driver that saved the rider from a major accident, allowing him to walk away without any injuries. The car had minor scratches on the bumper after it rubbed against the bike. Other than this, there was no major damage.

This is a great example that shows why it is always a good idea to use turn indicators while turning. Also, look at oncoming traffic by stopping the vehicle. Never hurry while making such turns on highways. Always follow traffic rules and look for a median gap. The biker not only put his own life but also the life of the innocent car driver at risk.
