two wheeler vs car kerala crash

Two-wheeler riders in India are often a menace on the road. They cut in front of vehicles, apply brakes abruptly, and even overtake from the left-hand side. Many of them are reluctant to follow traffic rules and cause problems for other road users. Irresponsible two-wheeler riders have also been known to cause accidents on the road. Here, we have one such video from Kerala where a careless scooter rider, with a woman as the pillion passenger, takes a U-turn without checking traffic and causes an accident.

The video was shared on Reddit by one of the users. It is dashcam footage from the car involved in the crash. The video shows the car passing through a typical single-lane road in Kerala. A truck is seen in front of the car, and both vehicles are maintaining a safe distance. The car is also not being driven at a very high speed.

The truck is seen overtaking a scooter rider and another vehicle from the right side. The truck driver safely overtakes these vehicles. The dashcam car follows the truck, and a scooter rider is visible on the left side of the road. The scooter rider has a woman as the pillion passenger and is positioned at the extreme left side of the road.

As the dashcam car approaches the scooter, the scooter rider makes a dangerous maneuver. The car driver had no time to react. The scooter rider, from the extreme left side of the road, suddenly took a U-turn without checking the rearview mirrors. The dashcam car applied brakes, but it was of no use. The scooter ended up directly in front of the vehicle.

The scooter rider and pillion passenger crashed into the car and were immediately thrown to the ground. The video shows the woman and the rider lying on the road after the crash. It appears that both of them lost consciousness upon impact. The helmet worn by the woman flew off into the air, suggesting that the helmet strap was not fastened securely.

Careless scooter rider crashed

The video ends abruptly after this. Hopefully, both of them survived the crash without any major injuries. There were a couple of factors that caused the accident. Accidents usually happen when either one or both parties drive carelessly. In this case, the scooter rider was at fault. He turned the scooter without checking for traffic.

Ideally, he should have slowed down or completely stopped, checked for traffic from both sides, and then made the turn. In this case, he was extremely careless.

If he was planning to make a turn, he should have engaged the turn indicators, moved the scooter to the center of the road, and then, after spotting a gap, stopped and made the turn.

Thankfully, there was a dashcam in the car that collided with the scooter. Otherwise, people might have blamed the car driver for rash driving. The dashcam footage can be used as evidence to prove that the driver of the vehicle was not at fault and was caught off guard when the scooter rider turned. This video shows how important it is to have a dashcam in your car and also the importance of staying alert while driving in India.
