We have seen several videos and images on social media where people are seen gifting cars and bikes to their parents, siblings, and spouses. However, we have not seen many cases where friends are seen gifting such expensive items. A woman from China did just that. She gifted a brand new BMW luxury SUV to her Indian friend on Tamil New Year, or Puthandu.

This happened last month during the Tamil New Year. Prawin Ganeshan, a young entrepreneur from Tamil Nadu, woke up to a message from his friend in China about his brand new car. Prawin Ganeshan is the founder and CEO of Kamakart.com, a sexual wellness e-commerce platform.

Prawin Ganeshan shared the news of his new gift on his X profile. He posted an image of his new car along with his friend, with a caption:

“Last year on my birthday, I was attending my close friend’s wedding in China. She had arranged a cake at midnight with a grand celebration in her hometown for me. Then she asked what my long-pending dream or wish list was. I said I wanted to buy a BMW. She said, ‘Before your next birthday, you will be driving your own BMW.’

But I never thought she would gift me one. Suddenly, on Tamil New Year’s Day morning, she texted on WeChat: ‘Your dream car is ready. Come and take it ❤️.’

Many relatives and friends mocked me—‘What can a sex toys seller really achieve?’ Success is the only reply, whatever business I do. ??”

The car gifted to Prawin is a brand new BMW iX1, and as mentioned in the post, it was Prawin’s dream to own a BMW one day. The electric SUV gifted to the businessman costs only Rs 30 lakh.

The reason why it costs only Rs 30 lakh is not because it was a used car. It is a brand new car, but it was gifted to Prawin in China. The cost of a brand new BMW iX1 in India is around Rs 50 lakh, while the same car costs Rs 20 lakh less in China. Prawin runs a sex toy factory and assembly unit in Dongguan city, China.

He mentions in the comment section that the person who gifted him this car is not a business partner but a close friend of his. The BMW iX1 is currently stationed in China, and Prawin will be using it to travel within the country while he is working on expanding his operations there. The car won’t be shipped to India and is registered in China.

It is definitely a very unique story and one of those instances that proves true friendship has no boundaries.

BMW iX1

The BMW iX1, as the name suggests, is based on the ICE model X1 from BMW. The exterior design of the electric SUV is identical to the ICE version. It is available in the Indian market and was officially launched in 2023. It comes with all the premium features one would expect from a car in this segment.

The iX1 uses a 66.4 kWh battery pack and is a dual-motor EV, which means power is sent to all four wheels. The BMW iX1 generates 313 PS and 494 Nm of peak torque. It has a claimed range of 440 km.
