Hindustan Ambassador is an iconic sedan, and this is a sedan that has been featured on our website on several occasions. In the past, the Ambassador was considered a status symbol, and it also served many politicians and government officials for decades. While many of these cars have been scrapped by their owners, there are a bunch of car lovers and collectors who still have an Ambassador in their garage. While some of them are maintained in their stock form, others are customised as per the owner’s taste. Here, we have one such video of a modified Ambassador that looks modern without losing its classic car essence.

The video has been shared by Veilside Automotive on their Instagram page. In this video, we see a Hindustan Ambassador that has been restored by a workshop in Kerala. The car and the customer came all the way from Andhra Pradesh for this work.

As part of the customisation, the car was completely repainted and reworked to give it a modern-day car-like look. On the outside, we see that the car has been completely repainted in a clean-looking shade of white. There are black accents in places that enhance the overall look. The round shape of the headlamps has been retained, but the lights on the car are aftermarket units. It now gets LED units with sleek DRLs integrated into them.

The front grille on this sedan has also been redone and is now finished in a piano black shade with a white horizontal strip dividing the grille into two parts. The turn indicators are placed right below the headlamps, and they are clear-lens units. The bumper is also finished in white. This has also been reworked, and a set of LED fog lamps has been integrated into it.

Coming to the side profile, the car gets electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs from the Maruti Baleno/Toyota Glanza, and the stock steel rims have been replaced with aftermarket 15-inch alloys. The video mentions that they didn’t go for a bigger wheel as they didn’t want to ruin the ride quality and comfort.

The door handles have also been redone, and they get black treatment in several places instead of chrome. The interior of the car has also been redone. The front seats have been replaced, and an electrically adjustable seat from Mercedes-Benz has been installed. The upholstery has been redone in a brown and beige shade as per the customer’s request, and we also see a roof liner and sunroof in this sedan.

The dashboard on this car has also been redone. The dashboard is borrowed from a Ford Figo, and so is the steering wheel. The car also gets power windows, a fuel lid opener switch, faux wooden inserts on the doors, a touchscreen infotainment system, and speakers.

The final product looks clean, and it definitely looks good with all customisations in place. Veilside Automotive has done a neat job of integrating modern features into the car without actually losing the classic character of the vehicle.
