In a fresh turn of events, the city court directed Banjara Hills police to serve notice to comedian Utsav Dixit, following the recent Porsche Taycan crash in Hyderabad. On Friday, Utsav lost control and crashed the 2.5 Crore electric sports car into the pavement and later into the fence of KBR National Park. He was soon arrested and presented before the court.

Police have seized the young entrepreneur-comedian’s original driving license and plans to suspend it. It has been sent to the transport department for the same. A suo-motu case has also been registered against Utsav, for culpable homicide, rash driving, MV Act violations, and for causing damage to public property.

As per the police, reckless driving caused the crash. The 33-old lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the pavement, and then into the fence, before coming to a complete halt- explained S Venkat Reddy, ACP of Banjara Hills division. As per the notice issued, Utsav will have to appear before the probe officer soon for questioning. He’ll then be interrogated and asked for further details of the crash and what followed. The findings from these will then be produced before the court.

The Hyderabad Porsche Crash: Details

The crash in question occurred on Friday when Utsav was returning home after meeting his friends. The entrepreneur reportedly had an argument with his wife over some minor family issues, and the car was registered in his father-in-law’s name. It was in fact, a gift for his wife. A video of the Red Taycan being recovered from the crash site soon surfaced on the internet.

The crash reportedly happened at 5:30 am. He fled the scene in no time! By the time when the cops arrived, no one was there inside the electric sports car. It was as if it ran into the fence on its own. The front took significant damage. The bumper, headlamps, bonnet, and fenders were all ruined. Initial reports were sceptical of the vehicle ownership, as the number plates were removed. Even in the videos that surfaced, number plates could not be seen.

The footage from nearby surveillance cameras should have helped the cops track the owner down. After all, how hard can it be to trace a Carmine Red Porsche Taycan with Red callipers on Indian roads? Carmine Red Porsche Taycan with Red callipers on Indian roads?

Previous Porsche Taycan Crash In Pune

Another recent incident of Porsche’s first electric car crashing out occurred in Pune this year, when a spoilt teenager rammed his dad’s Taycan into a motorcycle, killing two IT professionals. He was drunk. This crash occurred in Kalyani Nagar junction in Pune, and raised much public outrage for the casualties involved. In fact, some people even tried to damage the Porsche in protest. While the anger is understandable, damaging the vehicle instead of taking the legal route seems alarming.

The family did their best to safeguard the child but in vain. They claimed that their family driver was driving the car at the time of the crash. His father and grandfather were both arrested and later granted bail. The teenager too was granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board and was asked to write a 300-word essay on road safety. Later, the family even filed a petition for the return of their Porsche electric car.

Both these cases are testaments to irresponsible and arrogant driving behaviours from the respective drivers. Arrogance and overconfidence often tend to compromise road safety to unforgivable extents.
