Pregnant Youtuber's Reels And Social Media Posts Result In Road Getting Built In Her Village [Video]
Just a few days ago, a remark from BJP MP Dr. Rajesh Mishra on a 22-year-old pregnant woman went viral after she criticised him for not helping in the construction of an 8 km road to their village’s nearest hospital. The BJP MP, instead of getting the road repaired, stated that they'll get the pregnant woman and her other pregnant friend picked up just before the delivery. Well, although the BJP MP has not initiated any work from his side, a local Congress MLA is now spending his own resources to start the repair of the road in this village.

A 22-year-old pregnant woman named Leela Sahu, who is in her 9th month of pregnancy, started sharing vlogs and reels online showing the poor state of the road of her village, Khaddi Khurd, in Sidhi district, Madhya Pradesh. She was seen publicly criticizing the local BJP MP Dr. Rajesh Mishra for inaction in building a new road on the dangerous 8 km patch from their village to the nearest hospital.
What happened was that instead of starting the construction work on the road, the BJP MP gave an insensitive comment. He stated, “Every delivery has a due date. If she wants, she can get admitted early. We will provide all facilities, including food and water.” As a result of this, he received a lot of backlash. But once again, no action was taken from the BJP MP for the road.
Thankfully, Ajay Singh Rahul, Congress MLA from Churhat assembly constituency, came forward to help the pregnant YouTuber and her friend, who is also pregnant. Recently, it has been reported that nearly a year after Leela Sahu first raised the issue, construction work has now begun on the road.
Rahul, in his statement, revealed that he had tried for a year to get the road approved. However, his requests were ignored by authorities. As a result, he had to take matters into his own hands and has now begun building a few kilometres using personal resources. He highlighted that the aim at the moment is to make the road usable during emergencies, especially for pregnant women.
The Congress MLA stated, “When this woman spoke about her plight, the local MP said he would transport her on her due date. It was unfortunate, and I thought, let me at least do something so that vehicles can go through. I’ve been trying for a year to get this road built, but no one listened. So now, I am building a few kilometres with my own resources.”
Officially, a formal 5-km road proposal under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana was created in March 2025. However, it is yet to receive state-level approval, and for the same reason, no official work has been started from the MP government, which is currently led by BJP.
Reactions of villagers
Soon after the work on the road began, villagers, especially women, expressed their happiness. They stated that they are very happy that the work has finally begun. They highlighted that ambulances and emergency vehicles may now be able to reach the area more reliably. Presently, the village residents rely on tractors or private vehicles, which are dangerous during medical emergencies.
