Cop Suspended After Wife Dances In The Middle Of The Road For Instagram Reel

Since the last couple of days, a video of a woman dancing in the middle of the road has gone viral on the internet. Netizens were not very happy with this behavior as the woman was dancing in the middle of a road. It was later found that the woman was actually the wife of a cop from Chandigarh, and that has landed the officer in trouble. The officer has now been suspended for this irresponsible behavior.
The video has been circulating on various social media profiles. The officer who faced the wrath of the department was Mr. Ajay Kundu, a senior constable with Chandigarh Police. The video featured Ajay Kundu’s wife, Jyoti, who was dancing in the middle of a busy road in the city. The video was recorded by her sister-in-law, Pooja.
One may ask why the constable was suspended for an act where he didn’t do anything. Unfortunately, the video that went viral was uploaded from Ajay Kundu’s Instagram profile, which prompted action against him.
As per reports that have surfaced online, complainants approached the police station in Sector 33 and informed them that two women were dancing while recording videos in the middle of a busy road. The incident happened near the zebra crossing at Sector 20's Gurdwara Chowk.
They were so involved in the video creation process that they completely ignored the traffic on the road. They were putting their own lives at risk while also creating inconvenience and being a nuisance to other road users.
As soon as the officers received the complaint, they looked into the matter and reviewed CCTV footage from the area. The CCTV footage confirmed that an incident like this did happen. The video showed one woman dancing while the other recorded it.
The video also proved that this created inconvenience and obstruction to traffic on the road, which resulted in an FIR. The officer has been suspended, while a case has been filed against his wife and sister-in-law. As per reports available online, the women were booked under Sections 125, 292, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for obstructing traffic and endangering public safety.
Both Jyoti and Pooja were summoned for questioning and later released on bail. In her defense, Jyoti claimed they shot the video when the signal was red and vehicles were not moving.
What Jyoti and Pooja did is wrong and illegal. We have mentioned several times that public roads are for everyone and are not a place for stunts—or, in this case, dancing. Performing such stunts or acts on public roads creates inconvenience for other road users.
It often causes accidents. Always perform such acts on private property or in a controlled environment to ensure your own safety along with the safety of others. This is not the first time we have come across an incident like this. Authorities have taken action and issued hefty fines against many social media influencers who were caught creating a nuisance on the road
