Necessity is the mother of invention, and most jugaads are like that. Here we have a video where a Volkswagen Polo owner is seen with a carry bag hanging on the rear wiper of the car. The video has been shared by Sethumadhavan Thampi on his Instagram page. In this video, we see a red Volkswagen Polo being driven through the roads of Kerala. The reason behind recording this video is simple: there was a carry bag hanging on the rear wiper of the hatchback.
The carry bag increased the curiosity among the people who were behind the Polo, which is what led to this video. The person travelling behind the Polo started recording and even zoomed in to show what he was actually carrying.
It turns out, he was carrying raw fish from the market. He had probably bought the fish on his way back, and only after buying it did he realize that he was travelling in a car. Carrying fish inside a car can be risky as it might drip water and leave a stinky smell in the cabin.
Getting the smell out of the cabin is going to be a task, especially when you don’t have a proper cleaning setup at home. In order to solve this issue, the owner decided to hang the carry bag onto the rear wiper.
It is actually a very unique way of resolving an issue that could have left him with a stinky car. He made good use of the rear wiper, and this way the smell won’t be there in the cabin. Even if water drips from the carry bag, it would simply fall outside the vehicle, and cleaning the exterior of a car is much easier than cleaning the interior.
The comment section of this video is filled with funny and sarcastic remarks. Some of them sarcastically mentioned that the MVD will call it a heavily modified Polo. Others said, “Your idea is great till the time you get stuck in a traffic jam.
Either a street dog or a motorist passing by might grab and leave.” There are also comments where people said they would buy a car with a rear wiper just to carry fish like this. Others mentioned that in the UAE, many Arabs carry fish this way from the market to avoid the smell.
You have to give it to the owner of the car for thinking in this manner. He faced a problem and decided to resolve it in a unique way. If you don’t have a car with a rear windshield wiper, you can always hang it or tie it to the door handle to avoid the same issue.
