Indian Cricketer Akash Deep Buys His Dream Car - A Toyota Fortuner
Indian cricketer Akash Deep delivered a jaw-dropping performance on the England tour. He earned massive applause and recognition for the same. Celebrating the success, the cricketer has now added a brand-new luxury SUV to his garage- a Toyota Fortuner finished in Black. Akash took delivery of the SUV with his family and shared the news on social media. Like many other aspirational youngsters, the Fortuner has been the 'dream car' for him as well. It has now come true!
In the four images shared on Instagram, we see Akash Deep taking delivery of the brand-new Fortuner. He is seen in full style, wearing a Black sunglass and together with his mother, three sisters and other relatives. The carousel had a caption that read "Dream delivered. Keys received. With the ones who matter most". In one of these, the SUV is seen under a bright Red veil.
The post soon went viral and started receiving comments from various parts of the world. Among the commenters was cricketer Suryakumar Yadav who wrote "Bahut Bahut Badhaaiiii."
The range-topping Fortuner currently has an ex-showroom price of Rs 44.72 lakh for the recently launched Neo Drive mild hybrid (MHEV) version. The urban-focussed Legender costs up to Rs 52 lakh, ex-showroom. The on-road price stands much higher. Deep has bought the Fortuner, and not the Legender. We don't know if it is the Neo Drive variant.
2025 Fortuner Lineup: Hybrid And Non-Hybrid
The non-hybrid Fortuner comes with a 2.8-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 204hp and 500 Nm of torque. It comes in both 4x2 and 4x4 configurations. The Neo Drive uses the same engine, but after mating it to a 48V mild hybrid system (with a belt-integrated starter generator and a lithium-ion battery pack).
The MHEV comes mated to just the automatic transmission. The 2025 update to the Fortuner lineup has also brought about revisions in the feature list. It gets an idle start-stop, 360-degree camera, and terrain modes.
Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features are offered on the global-spec, but have been omitted from the Indian version. Also, in India, the MHEV comes in just the 4x4 configuration. The safety suite, however, has the likes of 7 airbags, hill ascent and descent assist, and traction control.
The mild-hybrid setup is claimed to bring significant improvements in the vehicle's fuel efficiency and low-end acceleration. Previously, the non-hybrid diesel engine used to return a fuel efficiency of 12.66 kmpl. The hybrid version, has a claimed mileage of 13.15 kmpl- marginally more than what was offered before. The Fortuner is indeed capable. But more importantly, it is widely considered as a symbol of success, power and prosperity.
Akash Deep's Remarkable Victory In England
Circling back, Akash Deep is originally from the Rohtas district of Bihar. He is, however, settled in Lucknow and played for Lucknow Super Giants in this year's IPL. More recently, Deep created history with his jaw-dropping performance in India vs England test series.
On his England tour, Deep played three test matches. In the second match, he scored 10 wickets! In three matches, he scored 13 wickets. India won by 336 runs and levelled the series at 1-1. This remarkable achievement made him rise to instant fame, and the new Fortuner makes the moment sweeter.
Akash Deep also delivered an excellent performance in batting as well. He achieved an outstanding maiden half-century in the second innings of the fifth test match. He scored 66 runs, together with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. The duo managed to score 107 together and rescued the team.
