VW Jetta Crashes Into Scooter: Sends Scooter Riders Flying [Video]
Reckless driving has become one of the biggest issues in India, with cars becoming more powerful and people becoming much less patient. The number of accidents that we see on roads due to rash driving is increasing exponentially. Recently, another video of a dangerous accident taking place on a busy road due to rash driving has been shared online from Pune, Maharashtra. In this particular incident, a black Volkswagen Jetta was seen crashing into a scooter on which two people were riding.
This video of the Volkswagen Jetta crashing into a scooter has been shared on X by Pune Pulse on their page. In this short clip, we can see that two people were riding a scooter on the Mumbai-Pune highway near Tip Top International Hotel, Wakad. Both of them were wearing helmets and were riding at a normal speed as there was a decent amount of traffic on the road.
Volkswagen Jetta Crashes into Scooter
Soon after this, in just a few moments, a black Volkswagen Jetta comes from the left side of the car in which a dashcam was installed and recording this incident. Unfortunately, as this Jetta was carrying a lot of speed while trying to overtake from the left lane, the driver could not stop the vehicle on time after noticing the scooter in front.
As a result, the driver turned the Jetta towards the right while applying the brakes. What happened next was that the left side of the car crashed into the scooter. It can be noted in the video that, after this, the car made a 270-degree turn and was facing towards the left side of the road.
What Happened to the Scooter Rider and Pillion?
From the video, we can note that due to the impact from the rear, both the scooter rider and the pillion fell on the road and were sliding due to the speed with which they were hit. Thankfully, the rider who was thrown on the road did not hit another vehicle in the front, which was driving in the right lane. Had the driver of that vehicle braked immediately, the scooter rider would have hit the vehicle, which could have proved fatal.
As for the pillion, he can also be seen rolling on the road. Both of them thankfully stood up and immediately went towards the side rails of the highway. Meanwhile, other people from the side lane came to pick up their luggage from the road and check their situation. Also, the Jetta driver parked his vehicle on the side of the road.
Why Did This Accident Happen?
As mentioned above, the entire fault in this accident was that of the Volkswagen Jetta driver. It can be observed that the driver was trying to overtake from the left side, which is illegal. Also, what caused this accident to be more dangerous was the speed.
We can note that while overtaking from the left, the speed of the Jetta was much higher than the allowed speed limit on such sections of the highway. Due to this, he could not brake on time, causing such a horrific accident. Whether an FIR has been filed against him for reckless driving is currently unknown.
Properly Fasten Helmets
From the video, one important takeaway is that everyone should wear a helmet properly. It can be noted that when the Jetta hit the scooter, the helmet of the pillion flew away. Most likely, this happened because the helmet was not strapped on tightly. So we request everyone not only to wear a helmet but also to wear it properly in order for it to protect your head in case of an unfortunate accident.
