Road Rage On Dashcam: Mahindra Scorpio-N Driver Goes On A Wild Drive [Video]

Dash cameras are becoming increasingly significant in modern-day motoring. These often capture the atrocities done by rash and negligent drivers around, and the same can later double as valuable evidence. A recent video shows just the same. A clear case of road rage, it shows an arrogant Mahindra Scorpio-N driver going on a wild drive and ending up hitting a vehicle that was following him. The entire incident was captured on dashcam.
This incident stems from a video shared on YouTube by Prateek Singh. The channel often posts videos that show crashes and incidents filmed by dashboard cameras, and actively promotes the use of the same.
It is to be mentioned that here, even the vehicle which has the dash camera running is being driven aggressively, but is still on the safe side of things. The reason for this is that they were returning from the hospital and had some ongoing medical emergencies.
They are on a crowded road when they hear a vehicle honking continuously behind them. A few seconds later, they find out it to be a Black Mahindra Scorpio-N. It is being driven arrogantly, seemingly triggered by the speed that the 'camera car' is carrying. Its speed should have hurt the Scorpio-N driver's ego, and he decided to charge.
The Scorpio-N is seen driving wildly, putting the lives of those around at risk. At some point in time, it even drives on the footpath. A few seconds later, it tries to overtake the 'camera car' through the left side. In India, it is illegal to overtake a vehicle through the left.
The Scorpio driver's attempt to overtake, however, does not succeed. A scooter is right in front of the SUV, due to which he makes a quick move to the right. A Maruti Wagon R is seen driving in the right lane. The 'camera car' is following the Maruti.
The Scorpio-N narrowly misses crashing into the scooter but ends up rubbing its rear against the camera car. Both vehicles seem to have taken scratches. The SUV stops and its driver gets out furious. He is very upset that the road rage caused damage to his own vehicle.
He moves towards the 'camera car' and is seen shouting at its driver. He asks him to get out of the car- seemingly with the intention of beating him up, should he choose to do so.
The panicked driver refuses to get out of his car, and doesn't even open his windows or doors. He is clearly frightened and tries to bail out of the situation by moving to the left. He somehow manages to get the car out.
Further enraged by this move, the Scorpio-N driver even punches the car hard. We don't have information on the actual damage caused to the vehicles involved in this crash. However, it is a clear example that Indian roads can be highly unsafe and hostile for drivers and the public alike.
This incident also shows how you could end up being treated if you aren't rich enough or if you don't drive something that's expensive enough. Though many might refuse to agree, this is a harsh reality in many places within the country. Even the video mentions such challenges faced by the middle class on Indian road.
This isn't a one-off case of road rage. Previously, we saw a crazy incident in Bengaluru in which an enraged Honda Activa rider damaged a Maruti Celerio on public roads. The Activa carrying two followed the Celerio, and blocked its way when the Maruti stopped at a signal. The rider then jumped on the bonnet and stamped on its windshield, in an attempt to break it.
Incidents of road rage such as these are indeed alarming. The authorities should take strict action against these offenders and ensure better enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline.
