Mahindra's newest electric SUV duo- the BE 6 and XEV 9e- has been entering the expensive garages of celebrities and High Networth Individuals (HNIs). Mahindra started commencing deliveries of these in mid-March. In the last few days we saw many public figures adding these to their garages. The latest in the line is Danish Devgn. The Indian director-producer and entrepreneur has chosen Black as the preferred colour for his XEV.

Devgn shared a video of himself taking delivery of the vehicle from NBS Automotive- a Mahindra dealer in Mumbai. In it, we see him going vocal about his purchase experience. He says that the dealer staff has been very helpful in his car-buying journey. He also says that this is his first-ever electric car and that he was extremely impressed by the XEV's design.

In the video, we can see that the Black XEV 9e has already got its registration plate. It reads 'MH 02 GM 9001', but is a White plate. As per the law, electric vehicles are required to wear Green number plates with White letters. This XEV has a White plate with a Green stripe at one end. The entrepreneur should have customised it to look this way.

He is currently serving as the chairman of INSPACE, a part of India's space program, and the chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Madras. He has bought his XEV in the 'Desert Myst' shade, and took delivery from NBS.

Mahindra XEV 9e: A Closer Look At It

Think of the XEV 9e as the electric coupe version of the XUV 700. Like the BE 6, it is based on Mahindra's newly developed INGLO EV platform. This high-voltage skateboard architecture can support different body styles and various top hat sizes. This platform has been reinforced to ensure safety at all times. The battery is sourced from BYD and integrated into the floor. There are two battery options on offer- 59 kWh and 79 kWh.

The electric motor is mounted on the rear axle and the vehicle has a Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) layout. The Valeo-sourced unit produces 228bhp and 380 Nm on the smaller battery version and 282 Bhp and 380 Nm on the range-topping 79 kWh battery version. The 59 kWh version is claimed to offer a range of 542 km while the larger battery can deliver up to 656 km.

The XEV 9e is a very good-looking electric SUV. The design would instantly strike you just like how it did to Danish. It gets LED lighting, an illuminated Mahindra logo, DRLs that extend downwards, triangular headlamps, a closed-off grille, flush-type door handles, heavily flared wheel arches, and 20-inch wheels (on the top-spec).

There are 8 colour options on offer- Desert Myst, Everest White, Nebula Blue, Tango Red, Gold Dawn, Deep Forest, Ruby Velvet, and Stealth Black.

On the inside, the layout and design would resemble those of the XUV 700 to a great extent. The feature list is well-populated and includes the likes of three large 12.30-inch screens on the dashboard, which Mahindra calls the “Cinemascope Cockpit”, 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio with Dolby Atmos, two screens for rear passengers, VisionX Augmented Reality HUD, MAIA (Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor, 24 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of internal storage, seat ventilation, electrically adjustable seats, an infinity glass roof with integrated dynamic lights, a 360-degree camera, multi-zone climate control, and Level 2+ ADAS.
