The number of scammers on Indian roads is increasing exponentially. These cunning people find new ways to scam innocent people on public roads. Recently, a video has been shared online in which a scammer comes directly in front of a slow-moving car and then acts like he has been hit by it. This particular scammer even had fake injuries on him to make his scam more believable. Thankfully, the car owner was saved because his vehicle had a dashcam installed. Otherwise, he would have had to pay this man a lot of money to avoid getting involved in a case.

This video, exposing the fake accident scam in Bengaluru, has been shared on X by Karnataka Portfolio on their page. As per the post, this scam took place in KR Puram, Bengaluru. The entire incident was caught on the dashcam installed in the car that was about to get scammed on the public road. This video starts off by showing a car being driven at a very slow speed on a road with normal traffic.

Scammer Comes in Front of the Car

We can note that the Force Traveller MPV first passes, and immediately from the left side, a man comes in front of the car in which the dashcam was installed. This particular man had a fake injury on his right arm and was weaving in front of the car to stop it. It can also be noted that his face and clothes were covered with dirt and fake blood to make this scam look a lot more realistic.

What happens after this is that the car driver, in order to avoid the scam, tries to reverse the vehicle and move away. However, we can note that this relentless scammer did not want the car to leave the spot. He was then told by the car driver that his vehicle had a camera on the windshield. But despite this, the scam artist, continuing his performance, started to lean on the bonnet.

This was done by him to make it look like the car had hit him at a high speed and that he had suffered a lot of injuries. To some extent, his trick even started working, as an auto-rickshaw driver stopped his vehicle on the left side to check up on this man. He even came to the driver’s side of the car as well. However, the car driver immediately highlighted that he had a camera in the car, which showed that the scammer himself had walked in front of the car.

Police Did Nothing to This Scammer

What was even more shocking was that when the auto-rickshaw driver left the spot after understanding that this was a setup for a scam, two police officers and a civilian came and stood in front of the vehicle. They then started inquiring about the incident and questioned the car driver, after which the car driver showed the camera footage and stated that he could prove no accident had taken place.

Now, instead of checking the footage and then arresting this scam artist on the public road, the police officers can be seen guiding him to the side of the road. Prior to this, we also noted that the scammer was talking with the police. However, what exactly he talked about is currently unknown.

Has This Man Been Arrested?

According to reports, this particular scammer has not been arrested yet. Most likely, he will get away like the hundreds of other scammers who, on a day-to-day basis, come up with such elaborate scams to extort money from innocent bike and car drivers on public roads.

The X post in its caption mentioned, “Strict action must be taken against such scammers to prevent similar incidents in the future. Authorities should thoroughly investigate this case and create awareness about such fraudulent practices to ensure that innocent drivers are not wrongly accused.”

This Is Why Dashcams Are Very Important

It’s scams like these on public roads that highlight the importance of a good-quality dashcam. Thankfully, in this particular incident and many others, people had installed dashcams on the windshields of their cars. If they hadn’t had dashcams, they would have been arrested, and a case would have been filed against them. So, to protect yourself and your family members, install a high-quality dashcam in your vehicle.
