India's First Land Rover Defender Transformed Into A Luxurious Lounge: This Is IT!
The Land Rover Defender is already a luxury SUV. However, there are some people who think it can be made a little more luxurious. So, for such tasks, they call Dilip Chhabria or DC Designs. The man who designed the “Taarzan - The Wonder Car” is known for creating bespoke lounges for ultra-wealthy clients across the country. Recently, a video of a Land Rover Defender equipped with an ultra-luxurious lounge setup has been shared online.
DC lounge for Land Rover Defender
This video showing the DC-modified Land Rover Defender has been shared on YouTube by DC Dilip Chhabria on their channel. It starts off with exterior shots of the Defender, and it can be noted that the vehicle looks standard from the outside. However, when the left rear side door is opened, the fully customised rear cabin of this SUV can be seen.
Starting off with the door panel itself, it has been given an electrically operable window shade. Apart from this, the rear of the door panel is stock and gets exposed hardware, tan leather upholstery, and speakers. Soon after this, the video shows the main rear cabin of this SUV. It can be seen that an additional grab handle wrapped in leather has been added on the side.
Also, what catches the eye is the massive partition between the driver and co-driver cabin and the rear space. There is a transparent window in the middle which allows the rear seat occupants to see where they are going without letting the driver and co-driver hear the conversations being held in the rear. Additionally, there is also a chrome element on the bottom of this window.
Following this, the main highlights of this cabin, which are the 24-inch-wide captain seats, are shown in the video. These seats are finished in the same tan leather as the original factory leather, and they also get black quilted diamond stitching. Other notable highlights of these lounge captain seats include a telescopic calf support to provide comfort on long rides.
To control these telescopic calf supports and to also use a number of other creature comforts, DC has given the rear seats two individual touchscreen control panels as well. These panels control the ventilation, massaging, ambient lighting, recline angles, and also reading lights. They also control the deployment of a massive foldout TV which folds down from the roof.
This television also slides back and forth to make sure that the rear seat occupants can get the perfect viewing angles. Apart from these features, DC has also added a wireless charging pad, foldout tables and ambient lighting across the cabin. The floors and lower parts of the cabin are finished in black, which adds to the classy feel of this cabin.
Cost of this modification
The exact cost of all the modifications done on this particular Land Rover Defender is currently unknown. However, most likely it will be in the range of Rs 10–15 lakh. The reason behind such high costs is the complete bespoke work that has to be done in order to convert a standard vehicle into a lounge. A number of things have to be custom-designed and fabricated. The price also depends on the options chosen by the customer.
