Stranded In Gurgaon Floods, Employees 'Porter' Themselves Home [Video]

The Delhi NCR region has been getting heavy rains for the last couple of weeks. Gurugram is currently on Orange Alert, while Noida and Ghaziabad are on Red Alert. Due to heavy rains, the roads in many places have flooded, and we have started seeing videos of people complaining about the road and drainage infrastructure in Gurugram. During such situations, it is difficult to get a cab, and anyone who goes to the office knows this very well. Here we have a video where a group of employees, who were not able to get cabs to go back home, booked a commercial pickup truck using the Porter app and traveled through flooded roads.
The video has been shared by Rohit Gupta on his Instagram page. It looks like the social media user and his colleagues were stuck at the office due to heavy rains. They were unable to get a cab to go back to their respective places. They tried apps like Uber, Ola, and Rapido to get a ride, but their efforts were in vain.
Some genius from the group then thought of the Porter app. For those who are not aware, Porter is an online application that people use to transport goods from one place to another. In this case, they were left with no option and had to book a pickup truck.
They were lucky, and in some time, a Tata Ace Pro arrived at the pickup location. Many people were stuck at the same office, and we can clearly see that the roads were flooded due to rain. Once the mini truck arrived at the location, the driver opened the luggage-loading area, and all of them got inside. Some stood at the rear, while others sat next to the driver inside the cabin.
As there were too many people in the rear, one of the doors was not shut. This was done to ensure they didn’t suffocate. All of them were standing inside the truck because the floor was dirty. The mini pickup truck had ample ground clearance, and it managed to wade through the flooded roads without any issues. Soon, they left the flooded roads behind and joined good roads.
The Porter app is designed to carry goods. In this case, we assume the driver was probably briefed about the situation, and that is probably how he got convinced to take so many people at once. This was more of a rescue mission, as these employees would have been stranded at the office until the water level came down.
It is one of those situations where they improvised and got the desired result instead of sticking to the conventional way. Driving through flooded roads is risky. Always be careful and try to avoid going out in such situations. Only step out if it is absolutely necessary.
Even when you do, try to check the weather forecast and avoid waterlogged roads, as the chances of your vehicle stalling or getting hydrolocked are high. Navigating through flooded roads can be challenging, and you might drive into an open drain or a large pothole, damaging your vehicle and injuring yourself.
