Road accidents are common in India, but this hit-and-run isn't really one of them. In a recent incident from Mangalore, a Maruti Alto rammed into a motorcycle rider and then hit a pedestrian woman, causing serious injuries to her. The impact left her hanging from a compound wall. An investigation revealed shocking details.

The Incident: Alto Hits Pedestrian

The video of this hit-and-run was captured by a CCTV camera installed nearby. The footage was later shared online. It shows a road in what looks like a residential area. A woman is seen walking peacefully.

Soon after this, a bike enters the frame closely followed by a Maruti Alto, which in the blink of an eye, hits the woman and throws her off. The impact is so huge that she lands on a compound wall, hanging from it. She seems to be seriously injured. The car, driving at high speed, then hits the biker, injuring him. It doesn't stop and continues to drive away.

Details of the injuries to the biker are unknown. The woman, however, suffered serious injuries. CCTV footage suggests fractures and wounds. She was given first aid immediately and was later transferred to a hospital for better medical attention. Even Murali Prasad is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital nearby.

The most shocking part of this incident is that it happened in broad daylight. This attempt to murder took place at 8:15 in the morning.

An investigation into the incident revealed shocking details. A retired BSNL employee was found to be driving the car. The accused, identified as Satish Kumar K M (69) is a resident of Kirodian Road, Kapikad, Bejai.

He was deliberately attempting a murder on Murali Prasad, a person he had grudge on. Murali was riding the motorcycle which Satish hit with his car. The poor woman fell prey to the incident for no cause of her.

Police reports confirm that Satish Kumar has verbally abused and attempted similar hit and runs on Murali's father in the past. Murali and Satish are reportedly neighbours and have long-standing fights between them. Police have seized the car, nabbed its driver and registered two cases against him.

One of the charges is regarding the intention to murder due to old animosity and the second is regarding negligence driving and hitting the woman. The first was registered at the Urwa police station and the second at the Mangaluru Traffic West police station. These cases were registered under Sections 109 and 118 (1) of BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita). He was produced before the court and was soon remanded.

Another Case Of Hit-And-Run

Another incident of brutal hit-and-run occurred on on September 15th at Pali Pathar on Dr. Ambedkar Road in Bandra, Mumbai. A Mercedes Benz GLC 300d was overspeeding, and crashed into a White Honda City which was parked on the road. The SUV driver was soon confronted by the people around. He attempted to flee but was chased by people around.

The chase came to a close when a brave soul put his two-wheeler in front of the SUV, bringing him to a complete halt. The angry crowd soon started breaking the SUV's window glasses.

The police soon arrived at the scene and a case was filed against him. Reports, however, suggest that the driver wasn't arrested. The reason for this, reports say, is that the Mercedes owner agreed to cover the cost of repairs of the Honda City.

What's Different Between These Incidents?

The answer to this question is rather simple. The first incident had a deliberate hit, involving an intention to kill. In the second case, however, there was no such intention, and was more or less a driver error.
