The BE 6 is arguably the better-looking of the two 'Electric Origin SUVs' from Mahindra. Even with the larger, more comfortable, family-focused XEV 9e on sale, it has carved out a loyal set of admirers. The 'on-the-face' design plays a key role in maximising its appeal. What if the BE 6 looked even better? Vishnu Suresh, the digital artist who goes by the name Zephyr Designz, has imagined a version of the BE 6 that looks much more appealing. With an exterior that looks and glows like 'lava', this rendering looks menacing, and remains a design that money can't buy!

A video shared by the artist shows the lava-skinned electric SUV coming out of the garage. The exterior is finished in what looks like matte Black. On it, glowing streaks of Orange shade can be seen occasionally lighting up. In effect, this creates the visual impression of molten lava. The SUV concept here tries to mimic the crust of a volcano. Again, these are all possible only because this is a digital rendering. On an optimistic note, this could be an inspiration for a custom wrap design for many!

The BE 6 has a striking design with clean surfaces and neatly-drawn lines. The lava skin complements this design quite well. It looks stunning on the clear, large surfaces and the aerodynamic vent at the front looks particularly striking.

Another change to notice is that this concept is a two-door version, unlike the original SUV that comes with four doors. The doors are thus larger than usual. The window glasses and windscreens have all been finished in Black, to gel well with the rest of the design.

The SUV has also been fitted with a widebody kit. The front and rear bumpers have been redesigned as well. The SUV gets Black Brixton forged PE6 wheels with Yokohama Advan Neova AD08R tyres. There is even a prominent spoiler at the rear.

Mahindra launched the BE 6 in India in November 2024. The deliveries started in the second half of March 2025. Even the stock BE 6 looks futuristic and almost concept-like.

Key highlights include short overhangs, stylish LED lighting, integrated aero-spoiler at the front, large 20 inch wheels and low resistance tyres. The roof might seem coupe-like, but is actually not. It is just a visual illusion brought about by the clever placement of the rear spoiler.

Inside its cabin, the BE 6 boasts a minimal-yet-futuristic design. There are a lot of features on offer. The electric SUV gets features like a double-D cut steering wheel with an illuminated logo on it, power-adjustable driver seat, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, selectable driving modes, 360-degree camera, HUD, ambient lighting, frameless inside rearview mirror, 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, multiple charging points, and level 2+ ADAS.

Underpinning the BE 6 is Mahindra's all new EV platform- the INGLO. It has been developed in India for the world- hence the name. This skateboard platform can support vehicles of different sizes and bodystyles. Some parts of this high-voltage architecture apparently come from Volkswagen, even though Mahindra has refused to admit the same.

There are two battery packs on offer- 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The larger battery is available only on the top spec variant. Talking of which, there are three broad trims and five variants on offer: Pack ONE, Pack ONE Above, Pack TWO, Pack THREE Select and Pack THREE. The 59 kWh battery claims to offer a range of 535 km per charge. The second unit is capable of delivering up to 682.

The electric motor sits at the rear, and BE 6 gets Rear Wheel Drive (RWD). Sourced from Valeo, this motor produces 280 hp and 380 Nm on the top-spec. With the smaller battery pack, it produces just 230 hp.
