Bollywood Actress Janhvi Kapoor Comes Out Strongly Against Vadodara Car Crash Accused

No matter how many times it is said that driving under the influence of alcohol or any other intoxicating substance can lead to accidents, people somehow still do it and become the cause of someone's death. Most recently, a video of a horrific accident from Vadodara, Gujarat, has gone viral. In this clip, a 20-year-old law student crashed his friend's Volkswagen Virtus GT, resulting in severe injuries to seven people and the death of a young woman. Now, raising her voice against this criminal, Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor has also shared a post online.
Recently, Janhvi Kapoor, via her Instagram stories, shared a post in which she criticized this law student for causing such a crash. In her story, the actress stated, “This is appalling and enraging. Sick to my stomach about anyone thinking this kind of behavior is something they can get away with. Intoxicated or not.”
Although, to many, a Bollywood celebrity sharing a story on this incident may not seem like a big deal, it has to be noted that celebrities generally avoid sharing their views on such incidents. But with the help of Janhvi Kapoor's story, this case will reach more people. And when more awareness about such incidents takes place, it becomes harder for the accused to get away by bribing the authorities or using political power.
For those who may still not be aware of the accident that took place in Vadodara, Gujarat, what happened was that a 20-year-old fourth-year law student named Rakshit Chaurasiya, who hails from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, was driving his friend's Volkswagen Virtus GT. Meanwhile, his friend Mit Chauhan was sitting in the front passenger seat.
It was reported that Chaurasiya was driving this sedan at a very high speed and, unfortunately, lost control. As a result, he crashed into multiple people, and out of all, seven people were seriously injured. What's even more saddening is that the life of a woman named Hemani Patel was also claimed in this accident. Also, of the seven people injured, one is a minor.
What's extremely sickening about the incident is that a video was shot soon after the accident took place. It was noted that Chauhan came out of the front passenger seat immediately and was cursing Chaurasiya. Meanwhile, instead of checking up on the people he injured and killed, this reckless driver was seen and heard saying, “Another round.”
He then even started taking the name of a girl named Nikita and also started chanting “Om Namah Shivay.” As per reports, Chaurasiya was under the influence of “Bhang.” However, to determine whether it was true or not, the blood samples of Chaurasiya, Chauhan, and another friend of theirs (who was not in the car at the time of the accident but was with them before) have been sent for forensic examination.
Soon after the accident, the locals, who surrounded the accused and beat him up, handed him over to the Vadodara police. On the same night, a special late-night hearing was conducted. On Saturday, the Vadodara court granted the police one-day custody of Chaurasiya for questioning, following which a few videos of this law student have been shared online.
In these videos, he stated that he was driving the Virtus GT automatic and could not control it in sports mode. He added that while driving at around 50-60 kmph, his vehicle only touched a scooter. However, as the vehicle was very new, all the sensors triggered the airbags, causing him to lose sight of the road and then crash into the public on the road.
