Drunk driving is illegal not just in India but around the world. Driving under the influence of alcohol can be dangerous as it can lead to accidents. We have come across several incidents from different parts of the country where people driving cars under the influence of alcohol have gotten into arguments with others and caused chaos on the road. Here, we have one such incident from Maharashtra, where a drunk Mahindra Scorpio-N driver threatened and hit seven security guards of a residential society who stopped his vehicle.

The video has been shared by Midday India on their YouTube channel. As per the reports available online, the incident happened in J.P. North—a posh residential-cum-commercial complex in the Vinay Nagar area of Kashimira. The Mahindra Scorpio-N driver, along with friends, tried to enter the North Barcelona building in their SUV.

When the security guards saw the vehicle, they stopped it and asked the occupants for the flat number they intended to visit. The guard requested the details as he needed to fill in the visitor’s register. However, the driver of the Scorpio-N, who was drunk, got offended by this and decided to threaten the security guards.

He took out a country-made pistol and drove the car forward, ramming into three security guards. Thankfully, they escaped with minor injuries. The driver didn’t stop after hitting the guards—he then drove the car directly into the society’s gate.

One of the guards who got injured in this incident said, “Our supervisor had already informed us that the jeep had crashed into a school bus before entering our building. When I asked them for the flat number they intended to visit, they got furious, and the driver rammed the jeep into us before escaping from the spot.”

After crashing into the gates and hitting the security guards multiple times, the Scorpio-N driver, along with his friends, fled the scene. The whole incident was captured on CCTV cameras and by locals who had gathered at the spot. The residents of the area are terrified as such an incident happened in broad daylight.

An FIR has been registered at the Kashigaon police station. Hopefully, the cops will be able to trace the vehicle and its owner soon. Strict action will be taken against the culprits. Driving a car under the influence of alcohol is extremely dangerous, and we have come across several examples in the past that prove the same.

The legal limit of alcohol content in the blood is 0.03% or 30 mg per 100 ml of blood. If a person driving a car has a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) level of 30 mg per 100 ml of blood, he or she can be booked under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Drunk people often have compromised senses and slower response times to obstacles on the road.

This becomes a risk not only to themselves but also to other road users. People often become overconfident after drinking, which leads to such accidents. In case you have a drink, leave your vehicle or take a driver.
