Mahindra XEV 9E Dominates Toyota Fortuner In Surprise Drag Race
Although the newly launched Mahindra XEV 9E is not a direct competitor of the Toyota Fortuner Legender Plus, there are people on the internet who are still comparing these two SUVs. Recently, a video showing a series of drag races between these two very different SUVs has been shared online. Both of these SUVs were pinned against each other on an empty road, and the results may surprise you.
Toyota Fortuner Legender Plus vs Mahindra XEV 9E
The video showing the drag races between the Mahindra XEV 9E and Toyota Fortuner Legender Plus has been shared on YouTube by Harsh NCR on their channel. In this video, the vlogger mentions that this is going to be the first video on YouTube in which the newly launched XEV 9E takes on the super popular Toyota Fortuner Legender.
Following this brief introduction, the vlogger starts providing the details of the powertrains of these SUVs. He starts by stating that the XEV 9E comes powered by an electric motor, which makes 282 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. As for the Fortuner Legender Plus, it comes equipped with a 2.8-litre diesel motor, which is capable of producing 201 bhp and 500 Nm of torque.
Drag races
After this, the vlogger mentions that both of these SUVs are rear-wheel drive models, and they both get lined up against each other. The vlogger then takes the front passenger seat in the Fortuner Legender Plus and asks the driver to engage normal mode and turn off the air conditioning system and traction control. He then asks the driver of the XEV 9E to do the same thing.
Soon after this, the XEV 9E driver honks three times, and then they start the first drag race. Unfortunately, what happens is that the Fortuner Legender Plus driver jump-starts the first round. However, he then realigns the car and makes a poor start, where he could not launch the vehicle properly. As a result of this, the XEV 9E creates a massive gap.
After this failed first round, both of the SUVs once again come right next to each other at the start. This time around, the XEV 9E owner mentions that he will be keeping the air conditioning system running. He added that in an electric car, keeping the air conditioner on does not lower the performance of the motor. After this, they start the second round, and this time the Fortuner gets a good launch.
However, the Mahindra XEV 9E, soon after the launch, starts pulling away. It can be seen that the gap between the two SUVs was very significant. Following this, they line the SUVs for the third round. However, this time the vlogger takes the steering of the Fortuner. Once again, the Fortuner gets a good launch, but it could not keep up with the XEV 9E.
Finally, for the last round, the vlogger asks the XEV 9E owner to keep it in normal mode. Meanwhile, he keeps the air conditioning system of the Fortuner Legender Plus off and also activates the sport mode. Unfortunately, despite having all of the advantages, the XEV 9E demolishes the Fortuner Legender Plus.
Why did XEV 9E win all the races?
The main reason behind the strong performance of the Mahindra XEV 9E is that this electric SUV comes with 282 bhp, which is 81 bhp more than the Fortuner. Also, even though the torque of the XEV 9E is lower than the Fortuner Legender, being an EV, the XEV 9E puts down all of the torque instantly and does not need the gears to reach its peak torque.
